It seems coolermaster is now into sponsoring! If you use this mechanical keyboard, coolermaster will pay you for brand exposure. No?

It's a good keyboard, but yeah they went a little overboard with the branding. Over on GH there is a CM rep taking suggestions on it, I suggested removing all branding except the CM STORM writing above the arrow keys(i.e. removing the two flame looking logos and the Quick Fire on the space bar). Personally, I think it would look pretty slick with just CM Storm above the arrow keys.

Edit: I have the version with red switches, which has a black frame instead of silver/grey, looks a lot better imo.

Someone should tell the rep that 'Otaku Branding' is the cat's pyjamas right now.

Well you could always remove the case and paint it - has anyone an idea when this will be available in Europe?

Alternatively somewhere one could order it for cheap (OVP + minimum shipping) ?

2690 NTB = €68.60
$20 shipping to Europe = €15.20
Total €83.8 - Customs free since under €110 or something

Good deal.

At least in Germany €83.8 * 1.19 ≈ 100 € due to VAT ("Einfuhrumsatzsteuer") since it's over 22€, right?

The following applies for importing goods into The Netherlands with a value between 22 and 150 EUR:
(good's value + shipment costs)*1.19 [VAT, "omzetbelasting"; yes, including shipment costs].
Usually, the carrier will also ask for a brokerage fee. That was 12.50 EUR for my last parcel from outside the EU.
So, the coolermaster would be approx. (68.60+15.20)*1.19+12.50 = 112.22 EUR. Still cheaper than a Filco from the UK but not sure if I want...

Thats correct. If they find the parcel, anyway. But according to the official CM Forum, the QFR will be available in Europe, so the odds are good for a sub 70 Euro TKL.

I think my customs office has me on a blacklist or something, I have to visit them each time I order something from overseas nowadays, even if I make sure every parcel has a value below 22€.

This is not entirely correct. The 22 Euro limit is for VAT, which you will pay in any way if it is above 22 Euros. The difference is that VAT and customs import fees are two different things. As of 2008, the customs fee has been raised to 150 Euros. Anything above 150 Euros, you will have to pay both.

So apparently on geekhack someone got news from a retailer that the QFR won't be released in Germany but they are waiting for the QFR2 in June:
Der Plan von CM Storm für Tastaturen sieht im Moment folgendermaßen aus:
März: Launch der Trigger (NTZV2A)
April: Quick Fire Pro
Juni: Quick Fire Rapid 2 (überarbeitete Version der Quick Fire Rapid)
Now I'm left wondering if the QFR ANSI will be released in Europe before the QFR2.

One thing that worries me is that the case is rubberized. I don't know if the layer of rubber can be safely removed, or just the logos.

I have heard it should come to Sweden in March, but last year I heard January.. so...
