HUGE Cherry keyboard database

There is a lot of things the wiki/Cherry_article_numbers page doesn't answer, and I thought that it might be revealing to regroup our knowledge in a single spreadsheet with as many as possible Cherry keyboard we know. So far, 364 keyboards have been documented.

As it is a huge database, it wouldn't be reasonable to just let everyone run free in it. So for now it's visible only, and if you have models to add, just comment them down below, and shoot me a pm with your email address and I'll add you in the sheet.

How to document your keyboard :
1) take a picture of the front
2) take a picture of the label on the back or of the label inside of the keyboard
3) take other pictures you might find necessary
4) upload them onto either a forum, or an image hosting site, imgur preferably

Hi, You've all done some really awesome work with this database. Hopefully I can contribute with something.

I happen to have a G80-3000 HGD, and I didn't find that particular model when I browsed through the spreadsheet. I might have missed it though.

Anyone know what the "G" might stand for in this case?

this question is what started it all, for me at least, and with all of these keyboards put in the same place, I thought I would be able to tell ... but yet I still don't know what they mean

Great, I'll take some more pictures of the board, make a separate post for it and add the board to the spreadsheet after that

In the Cherry Article number page it is mentioned that the "G" could stand for a board having a shorter cable or coming with Mx Brown. I think I'll measure the length of the cable on the 3000 HGD as well. That way one can compare it to the length of a other 3000 boards and maybe also a 1000.

Can't find a Cherry sticker, but PCB, switches and keycaps are Cherry, so it's got to be around here somewhere. I think it's from 1986, but all the documentation is in German

Also R5 spacebar

I... all these years of "every spacebar is R4" was a lie. I'm shaking right now.

Edit: the PCB number is 601-1232 Rev. B, but most of this old stuff has a G80-XXX(X) sticker somewhere.

What a gorgeous board. I love the one I have because I have it, but white and yellow on brown is just as stunning. I can't believe these boards are so old that they predate the G80 range, save for the stepped/ hat keys they look extremely modern.

One of the papers I got with mine mentions Blaupunkt. I imagine it's something similar to how the 3DO has branding for different companies involved.

2 years ago, I started with others this journey and it's been honestly one of the most fun projects I've been a part of in this community. I am super thankful for that

Thanks to everyone for helping me and others in this struggle to document the numerous keyboards Cherry has made since the 70s.

I'll refresh the numbers like I've did in the past :

900 keyboards ! This is getting cramped ... I think we should do something about that. More news on that later

I can't believe I missed the birthday of this project, guess I didn't realise I was so busy ! Happy 3rd birthday to this community effort

We changed the spreadsheet a lot recently and it's not as easy to count boards from different series as before, but hopefully the changes will make the processing of data much easier later on.

Nonetheless, we currently have documented 948 Cherry keyboards.
