Well I decided to go ahead and try a screw mod myself. Figured I would try it on my keyboard in the worst condition. A IBM Model M 122 keyboard that only had about 10 percent of the plastic rivets remaining. It was basically unusable in its condition and pretty dirty. I recently bought it from a computer recycle center on the cheap. So I just went down to my local Ace Hardware and bought the smallest screws they had in stock and a drill bit that would work with the screws. Looked at a few procedures on line and I dove in. The screw mod part took about an hour and a half. Just as about as long as the cleaning took. Defiantly wouldn't go any larger or longer on the screws because of space issues. Only place the length got me was on the numpad enter key because it was an older keyboard and had a metal return spring on it. So I had to use a few screws out of one of my computer bolt kits that were shorter. A newer keyboard wouldn't be a problem. Here are some photos. Tested the keyboard and it felt great and thankfully everything worked.

Nice screw mod.
I did a bolt mod on my M122 (in similar, but smellier condition) way back when. Screw mod hadn’t been invented yet: back then the mod involved drilling all the way through the barrel plate (as I distantly remember) then putting nuts on and fine tuning them at length. Tedious! Put me off ever doing it again!
Dem bolts…
Screw mod is definitely the way to go.
