And do I ever feel wimpy. You really have to stand on these suckers to get them to actuate. It makes my fingers feel like un-learning the whole "not bottom out" approach to things and just hammer away on the keys (which defeats the purpose in my eyes!). I was going to give this board a good run for a week or two before going ahead and trying the ergo clear mod on it ... but I don't think it's going to take me long to make that decision. In fact the decision is almost made after 15 minutes of typing and my hands aching.

To anyone who's tried both ... is there a big enough difference going to the ergo clears as far as actuation force "feel" ... or should I just flip this board now and cut my losses ... I'd hate to put all the effort into the mod just to find out it feels just as hard to actuate the keys. I know the math says they will be lighter, but the math also says that the clears are not that much heavier than blues, but my fingers think they are considerably harder to actuate. Maybe my fingers are just being wimps today ...

Also, it's a bit weird ... this is my 3rd Leopold tenkeyless board and for some reason the space bar profile seems off. Like it's literally a mm or two higher than all the other keys. Neither of my other Leo tkl's are like that. Will have to pop the space bar off and see what's going on.

"Ergo clears" do not actuate that much more easily, but they do bottom out very easy. If you want to actuate more easily and bottom out more easily, you should get a Cherry Brown board. That is my personal opinion, though.

I think that you should give the Clears board at least a week before considering doing a mod.
The unmodified Clears is my favourite Cherry switch, because it is so tactile and there is a "dip" right at the actuation point with sharply increasing force after actuation that cushions my fingers, preventing me from bottoming out. I don't press down these keys as deeply as I press Browns, Blues and Blacks. I think that you just need to get used to them, and when you have, then they will not feel so hard any more and you will like them as much as I do.

They are by far my favourite cherry switch as well. I bought clears to mod my poker into ergo clears but they had a slight delay in coming back up so I tried strait clears and I love them. Your hands will get used to them eventually.

I have a couple of boards with browns and I do like them. I'll give the clears a good try then, thanks for the advice. Maybe just having a bad day with my hands.

are there any Clear boards out there still? or has it been already discontinued?

Cherry makes them, at least German layout was available in summer.

They are interesting switch, nice to demonstrate the working of actuation. But I would not suggest them for gaming if only occasionally used, my hand got really tired...

Basically tactile switch on steroids.

The black G80-3000 with clears might get harder to find, but the white versions are still made for sure.

I ordered one at computer universe quite easily (with german layout of course ...).

After spending a bit more time with them I'm starting to really enjoy them. Thanks for the advice. They wouldn't be a choice for me for gaming but they are nice to type with if you're going for not bottoming out.
