Ducky One TKL -vs- Input Club K Type -vs- Glorious PC TKL

Hello guys.

I'm new here. Hope this is a fine pace to discuss about my concerns regarding my next TKL mechanical keyboard.

At first, my primary reason to go after the Input Club K Type and the Glorious PC gaming mechanical key was because of their removable switches. I like to have that feature as it is easier to clean, especially in case of liquid spills.

However, I've then noticed the Ducky One TKL is even more expensive than the full-fledged Glorious PC keyboard. That got me thinking that maybe there was a practical reason for the price difference and that the Ducky could be better in some way. Build quality perhaps?

If that is the case, I would then think about letting go of the removable switches and stick to the Ducky

If not and the Ducky is more expensive simply due to the brand, should I go with the Input Club K Type or wait for the Glorious PC TKL to become available later this year?

Don't waste your time waiting for the I:C K-Type. I signed up for the waitlist in 2015 and haven't heard from it since.

Also I don't see removable switches as a bonus. A nice, close soldering job will just add to the overall stability of the plate/pcb construction that I wouldn't want to miss even for the ability to swap switches.

Unless you have some very sophisticated plans for a multi-switch experiment, I recommend going to a classic construction.

Take a look at ebay and other marketplaces for older Ducky and Filco keyboards. Sometimes you can find them for 50-80$ and they don't really suffer much from regular use. The only component of these keyboards that "wears" from use is the keycaps and they are pretty much crap on almost all retail keyboards unless you go for some exotic high-end Ducky stuff.

So get some replacement caps and put them on a used Ducky or Filco or Coolermaster or ... any other solid, modern keyboard.

Based on info on IC's forums, it seems like the K type is back on the front burner. The plate and side integrated case design is pretty amazing. The new holdup seems to be related to a new force curve driven switch design. Personally holding out for that and tactile xmit (if someone can figure out a way of making it quieter).

Wodan, as bloo mentioned, it seems the K-type is moving forward now. Don't you think it would be worth the wait?

Seems like it will be the most solid keyboard ever. It would really add to my peace of mind having the possibility to clean and replace my switches without messing with soldering at all.

I know it is a guessing game but by looking at the K-Type specs and images and comparing it to the Ducky One TKL, how more solid do you think the Ducky could be?
