Difference between pcb and plate mounted cherry stabilizers

Can pcb mounted cherry stabilizers be used without a pcb on a plate? (as with the switches?). For some reason plate mounted cherry stabilizers are uncommon, so I was wondering if the pcb mounted could serve both purposes.
Thanks

no. You need the plate mount variant.
here is a shop that has them:
https://mechboards.co.uk/shop/all/cherry-stabilisers/
you can also find them on older plate mount keyboards (WYSE, Cherry G80-9009)

Yes, but as far as I can tell pcb mount switches can also be mounted on a plate without the pcb, so I was just wondering…

PCB mounted stabs can be used with or without a plate. PCB stabs cannot be used without a PCB, they don't attached to the plate at all.
