Has anyone ever have problems with their keyboards from EK?
Id like to buy one but the fact you get no warranty puts me off.

They are not giving you any type of warranty? Now that sucks.
I wanted to buy a Leopold with MX blacks from them, but in this case i think I will look somwhere else.
And by the way buying from them is too expensive for a European. A Leopold wit MX Blacks is 109$ plus 50$ shipping fee (this is crazy), we get around 160$.
So I went and bought the PLU ML-87 with MX red switches, from Qtan's store on E-bay, with 100$ shipped. And I can assure you, the keyboard is very sturdy and well built.

I kinda feel the same way as a European. The shipping is way out of hand for it to be a worthy deal, $56 for the shipping is way too much. I'd rather look at a keyboard from Keyboard Company if you're willing to pay about that price range.
Else go for something else, like filimonovici recommended.

For what it's worth, Elitekeyboards may be expensive for those buying from overseas but his service is pretty good.
My friend and I have both had faulty boards which were replaced without any resistance despite living in Australia and only having a limited warranty.

I would just roll with a 'board from the Keyboard Co. unless you have your heart set on a Leopold. EK has great service, just as the Keyboard Co. does, but the price/reward ratio is a little steep, especially if you're looking for Topre.

When Brian opened a new mechanical keyboard shop, I supported him by buying lots of crap and by defending him against evil Filco Zero bashers. Because he was a new, small business in unconquered mechanical keyboard lands. Last time I communicated with him he was an asshole about keyboard forums in general and new keyboard forum deskthority in particular. Stay classy, Brian. I think he is happy with his gamers now. I stopped buying there because he kept overcharging on international shipping, especially the light items, and because I can't pay any longer because he uses a single fascist payment provider which I refuse to do business with. Too much fuss. My only regret is that I miss out on those clickclack runs. If you want a Leopold and don't have a problem with using paypal, I'd buy from Asia, faster yet cheaper shipping and since there's no warranty for the EU at EK, there is no difference in service level. Last time I bought from Geekstuff4u they did have warranty. With free shipping to replace/repair a keyboard. They don't have Leopold though.
Hmmm...

I think wasdkeyboards.com has very cheap international shipping around $3 for little stuff like o-rings. Anyone here bought a WASD keyboard? How much was shipping to Europe ?

The soft-landing pads cost $12.50 and the shipping to Europe goes for $14.53.

WASD is sure better! Anyway, looks like for a keyboard to say Germany, wasdkeyboards' International Priority mail shipping goes for $47.

I've bought a b-stock (refurb'd or returned model I guess) Leopold FC200R from them this christmas for 85 USD. Shipping to europe was 48 USD with EMS shipping. Didn't pay any aditional VAT or customs. They did overcharge on the shipping costs though, I believe, because my postal office told me that the weight of the package was less then actually declared on the papers that came with the package.
As for the keyboard itself, it was brand new in original packaging, 'pristine' as they advertised it on GH. All in all I'm very satisfied with it, works great, no flaws so far, and it cost me pretty much half than what a tenkeyless would cost me from TheKeyboardCompany! The GBP exchange rate is just killing it for me, which is sad because I'd love to buy a Filco sometime but with shipping it would cost me around 700 polish zloty (the Leo was only 450).

Could be just a plain human mistake.

Paraphrased - don't necessarily search for conspiracy where simple human error might explain.

@woody
Conspiracy? No my dear fellow deskthorithyan. There is no conspiracy. There is only the bad habit of using every mean to make money. It might be a human mistake, this is true and I give you that, but let's be honest. Out of 100 situations of this kind, 99 are intentional. And I defy anyone here to prove me wrong.

David Han was the guy who sent over the orders from the group buy for Topre keycaps. I believe cactux knows him. I'm sure I still have his e-mail address if you're interested.
