ALPS (Fukka) wobble?

I have a SIIG with clicky white simplified ALPS and I just don't type on it very much. The other day I was trying to figure out what it was I dislike so much about it and I think it's that the keys are just so wobbly. It really feels bad.

Is this a construction quality issue or are all the simplified ALPS like this? I've not typed on any other ALPS boards, so my experience is limited to just this SIIG, but if it's indicative of the switch, I'll not be trying another.

My Ortek 'Fukka' wobbles a bit too. But I didnt find that it took away from the feel too much. I found the fukkas loud.

I agree. Simplified ALPS wobbles and it is a direct consequence of the design. The part of the switch soldered to the PCB is brittle (compared to a complicated ALPS). I guess it can't prevent the stem to wobble.

What does wobble mean? that it shakes?

That it's not stable when you have your fingers resting on top. They don't feel well built and shift under my fingers when I'm typing. I'm using MX Blues to type this and the feel couldn't be much more dissimilar.

Interesting, i'm using an Ortek with these, and that's not a problem for me, more the stiffness of some keys when not pressed right from the center of the key.

The SIIG and the Ortek don't have the same switches. XMs for the former and Fukkas for the Ortek.
What annoys me with the XM, is that it clicks too early. IIRC it clicks before the key actuates.
Fukka: .....<click>.....<clack>
XMs: ..<click>.........<clack>

I quite like the high activation of XMs, it seems to suit me :) The click and the activation are in exactly the same place on these fairly new samples - no idea if that will stay the same with age!
