Hi,

I want a mechanical keyboard, which I want to use with my single
board computer.

I read about the Nopoo choc mini and the KBC Poker and asking myself
whether there are other tenkeyless boards without a seperated cursor
key block with similiar quality.
The board will be used for typing and programming. It should have a US layout and
easy to reach "{}[]\|/.,;:"@"-chars.

What other boards are there?

I hate small form factor boards. Get yourself a 3494. You wont regret it.

Get a HHKB, it's the best small form factor keyboard.

Only downside is the price.

Yes, absolutely true...small form factor is a compromise. With my PC
at home I use a full size IBM model M -- and I LOVE it !

The only problem is: Mobility/Portability.
I bought this single board computer -- a beaglebone (www.beagleboard.org) with a 7" LCD7 display
to have something to write programs when I am traveling. The single board computer fits into a
cookie box....and imagine what happens if I add a fullsize keyboard to that into my backpack...

Its a compromise between mobility and useability.

The HHKB looks exatly what I had in my mind: Fullsized keys and small form factor.
What switches are used with this one? Or in other words...if I want to come close as possible
to the buckling spring feeling of my beloved IBM model M ... are Cherry MX blue the correct
choice?

The no longer produced MX Grey 36 would be closest to buckling springs I believe. MX green are the closest equivalent to buckling spring that are currently produced, but only custom boards have them. MX blue are what you'll commonly find, but are too light and have a double clicking hysterisis problem. HHKB uses topre switches.

IMHO "{}[]\|/.,;:"@ access will not really change between keyboards (assuming a QWERTY layout), and the real question is more about modifiers access. I have a Noppoo Choc Mini (MX Brown), and I really like the fact that the right alt key is just a little further on the left, which mean it can easily be thumb activated without moving my fingers from the home row. In fact I swapped the right control and alt keys on my layout (modified colemak). The control placement on the HHKB would be nice for a regular layout, but it's already swapped with backspace on mine.

TG3 Data911 aka Deck BL82, I just got one for $10... I think it will be not too bad with some modding. Was thinking about doing something similar with it myself actually.
