I was wondering if there are people interested in joining me in going to an electronics scrapyard where I go to in order to save some beauties from destruction. It is in the province of Limburg in The Netherlands.
THE FIRST OFFICIAL "DT MECH KEYBOARD BEAUTY HUNT" WILL COMMENCE ON 23 FEB 2013 AT 11:00 (!)
The address is here :
http://www.computerrecycle.nl/
Note : DON'T FORGET YOUR KEYPULLERS . You need those to separate the beauties from the beasts

Thinking about it - perhaps you can arrange something with some IBM buildings. Every now and then they get batched of old stuff - including tons of buckling springs - and throw everything away. Last time I was there I was a couple days too late. About a hundred old buckling spring keyboards gone. :<

Interested!
My local scrap yard doesn't allow people to take anything out of the junk

Will do my best.
First I need to convince the owner to let multiple keyboard hunters enter his property

Just contacted the owner :
More people is not a problem he said. I can drop in whenever I want. Excellent.
So I tentatively scheduled the 'Save The Beauties' event on 23 February 2013.
Mind you : there are no guarantees , the guy told me there are keyboards, he has no idea on what the beauties are and what not so worst case you might end up with nothing special. At least you will get an idea on how this process works.
Anyway, since I'll probably start this event off from my place, we could also swap stuff amongst ourselves and do a 'mini' keyboard party.

You could decide the same day.
If there are a whole bunch of people wanting to join this saving spree ( more than 5 ) I would need to make a shift and push some of those interested to another date.
I'll post a time for people to join at my place and a time around which we will arrive at the beauty save compound.
By the way : I pay the guy 1 euro per keyboard, so you'd better take some cash with you.

Well, I was planning to come in a shopping cart anyway...maybe we can get the Euro out if necessary?

I give the guy 1 euro per keyboard for two reasons :
1. He is kind enough to let me do this and I'd like to secure these events for the future.
2. There still is value in these keyboards even as scrap.

I wasn't trying to complain, I was just amused that you felt that you needed to point out that we should bring money.
Edit: Somehow this seemed obvious to me and I always have some cash anyway. Maybe that's just me.

No, these days I hardly have cash with me. And the guy does *not* have a pin automaton.
