The above image is supposed to depict the difference between plate-mounted and pcb-mounted Cherry MX switches, and indeed they do.

They unfortunately also differ in that the pcb-mounted example also has a jumper wire installed which really isn't relevant and might cause confusion.

The plate in the top-left image looks more like the switch is floating in the clouds :)

That is correct. I forgot to remove the wire after I had desoldered it.
