Got a good deal on an AEK II. I couldn't tell which kind of alps it has but its not like there are bad alps. I also got a handful of teensey 2.0++s so I can get around to converting all the stuff I've got.

Got a model M and 2 model M2's for very cheap. One M2 has the capacitor issue, but I used the parts from it to rebuild the other one (cleaned up nicely too!)
Image (still need to clean the caps on the model m, they are god awful  , at least the case is looking nice! )

IBM Selectric Typewriter
This was sold as broken for $1 + shipping. Right now I have a Smith Corona manual typewriter that I like to write little notes with. My intent is to fix this one up as an upgrade :)

Zenith SuperSport Laptop
My favorite keycap set came from one of these laptops. I've been holding out for over a year for a good price on one of these. This set isn't as nice as the one I already have but, still, very nice. I'm going to use these caps for another project. I'll do my best to replace them with some downgraded caps based on what I have on-hand and will most likely give the rest of the machine to someone on here. PM me if you're interested!

Made this adaptive tv backlight thing. There are a bunch of guides online for how to do it. Makes a great weekend project and the results are awesome.

Currently in the process of cleaning a robotron k7609 which I got yesterday, it doesn't have a controller and uses robotron magnetic reed switches. Planning on using a promicro as an external controller for it.

Ok, so I didn't just get it, and it may not be the most uncommon thing ever, but... it's (mostly) ready today and it's special to me.

A few months ago, I bought a regular, run-of-the-mill IBM Model M 1391401 from ClickyKeyboards, for a very special reason — it shared my birthday (thus ending a months-long hunt that was absurdly frustrating, as several readers know). I asked him to make a couple modifications to this keyboard before sending it: convert it to an ISO layout AND replace the numpad0 and numpad+ 2U keys with two 1U keys each.

Once I got it, I put the necessary ISO keycaps and I replaced the original alphanum caps with the APL caps I scored on an eBay auction at about the same time. Also, I decided to deal with a minor thing that has moderately irked me for all these decades about the numpad, and replaced the mod-colored caps for the non-mod keys with alpha-colored blanks from Unicomp.

With an SDL cable from orihalcon, I adjusted the numpad's layout to what I wanted it to be:
19-key numpad.

My M104 looks like this now:
Model M104, with APL keycaps.

Note the numpad comma, which I got from elecshopper (along with the ISO left Shift and the ISO Enter). Nice, isn't it?
The red DT keycap on the Esc key comes from wokechill. It was a difficult choice between this cap and that one that I commissioned him to do for me (you know which one it is, dude ).

My calligraphy skills are somewhat lacking, so I'll ask a relative to do the artisan lettering thing on the six numpad blanks.

I'm pretty happy with the looks of this keyboard — the only thing I'd change, if I should get lucky, is to replace the numpad 1..9 and numpad. keys with those from a "PC battleship" that have their secondary legends in blue — that should make for a nice contrast with the orange APL symbols in the main alphanum cluster.

This is now my new daily driver, having pulled off the difficult feat of rotating away my F122. :)

Nicely done! Before I got going strong with mechanical keyboards, I bought several Model M boards from Clickykeyboards for my lab. I didn't know that he did some customization!

Well, I do have an ISO left Shift and an ISO Enter, both with icon+text, but they're from Unicomp... and the bolder font looked worse. YMMV.

Any idea what I should do with this? All these terminals are likely scrapped, unfortunately, so I'm thinking of completely rewiring the matrix with diodes for NKRO.

I purchased an inexpensive photography lighting kit a few months back. But I'm clumsy and broke two of bulbs that it came with.

I was tickled at how hilariously huge the replacement bulbs were in comparison. Hope these serve me well as I document my keyboard escapades!

If you do manage to get it working then let me know as I have one myself. I am more into clicky switches but these white space invaders feel excellent and sound pretty good.

Here is mine.

I bought this as a present for myself for doing well on my math midterm. It has SMK Cherry mount switches.
Image

I'm thinking of adding mounting plates and putting Tai-Hao Cubic keycaps on it. Maybe I can get some money for the old keycaps too.

I also decided to rebuild the matrix on the ADDS with diodes and Teensy++ 2.0 (for a future project) plus I need to find some new space invaders switches since a few of them are completely corroded or have mangled contacts.

Took a gamble on a Monterey K103 last week and it just arrived today. Was expecting white Alps but hoping for Omron Alps-styles, ended up with blue Alps. Never expected to get blues for less than $200, especially not in such a nice board. Good build quality, doubleshot keycaps, 2u backspace, deliciously thick arrow key legends; couldn't ask for much more. The keycaps are filthy but the switches are surprisingly not bad. Shouldn't take more than some air duster to make them feel close to perfect. Unfortunately my phone's camera is broken so I can't get any pics of it aside from the ones in the ebay listing.

Image

A few weeks ago I acquired the same Monterey board. Indeed, nice build quality and keycaps.
However, it doesn't work with my cheap no-name PS/2 - USB adapter. May I ask what DIN to USB adapter you are using.

Yes. I'll just swap the click leaf from the broken one into one of them (found inside the keyboard case, plus the seller included the missing keycap)

Very nice keycaps, thick doubleshot in Cherry (or something similar) profile.
