Interesting to see some other than Apple do the Touch Mouse thing, even if it is Microsoft. They appear to be releasing a basic Explorer model which seems to just be replacing the scroll wheel with a multi-directional scrolling strip, and then a higher-end model that does more fancy gestures.

Whether or not they are any good remains to be seen.

The video looks impressive, so much so that I'm seriously giving KDE on Linux a hard look and Windows 7 might not be that far away for me. The wife has a Windows 7 laptop and its really a decent OS. This mouse might be that final straw.

You don't need kde, you need xmonad or dwm.

Does the Touch Explorer have a proper middle mouse button?
It looks as if the outer bevel could make clicking uncomfortable.

I don't think it does, which is a serious downside for me...

The lack of the middle button was hideous 10 years ago, since the introduction of opera.
Now that all the browser, included explorer, cloned the opera behavior is more hideous than before.
And I haven't mentioned linux, where the middle button is essential.
