This is the order form for OG Coil Cables
What are OG Coil Cables? These cables aim to mimic the look and feel of the coiled cables on vintage keyboards while being able to be used on modern boards. Thick wire combined with smooth factory coils give an aesthetic like no other.
There will be three colors of cables available utilizing the RAL color codes 4010(magenta) 7044(beige) and 9011(black), which will all be shown below. The colors can also be seen at https://www.ralcolorchart.com/
The available terminations for these cables include USB A, USB B, USB Mini, USB Micro, USB C, unterminated, and others available on request.
All colors of heatshrink available on my normal cables will be available for these cables.
The exact dimensions of the cables can be seen in the diagram lower down.
Please submit the form once for each cable you want, my scraper can only deal with single item submissions.
Pricing is $21 for terminated cables, $14 for unterminated cables. Odd or custom terminations may increase the price, this will be discussed before invoicing.
Shipping is via USPS First Class, upgraded to Priority for large/heavy orders.
Shipping will be calculated based on your given address when invoices are sent.

"OG" is a pretty misleading name considering that they're not original at all (or gangsters, for that matter, but that's less important). Looks nice though.
How do you make sure that the coils are long-lasting?

OG is referring to their emulation of the "original" coiled cables that were on vintage keyboards. As long as the cables are not unduly abused, there should be no issues with durability of the coils as they are being produced by a manufacturer specializing in coiled cables for industrial usage.

The OG is more meant to describe the style of the coils rather than the entire cable. Coiled cables nowadays, for the most part, refer to hand coiled cables from custom cables makers and that end up more for aesthetics than function. These OG style coils are machine made and will be more durable and resistant to stretching than hand coiled cables.chzel wrote: ↑Shouldn't it be "Not OG" then?

Dang, I ordered some of these and forgot about that one...now I have to order more. I'd been looking for a cable like this for some time.FXT wrote: ↑Can't wait to see how it looks with my F107.
These cables are going to look awesome with any Model F
The beige might be interesting with a Model M.

What color did you go with out of curiosity? I personally went with black because it'll match my XT's cable and go well with the Industrial gray I plan on getting my F107 powdercoated.

Hmm... What about USB A to RJ45 Coiled Spiral Extension Cable that sells for £10? Yes, it has RJ45 on the other end, but some IBM terminal keyboards have similar, if not the same socket on them. I'm tempted to fit this to my Bigfoot IBM 5291.

I'm doing black cables for my projects but got one beige for a model M.
@tigpha those look like good spiraled cables, especially if you wanted to made a usb cable for a Model M converted with something like a Teensy. I'd rather not have to crimp my own cables though.

Just received one of these. The "RJ45" plug is actually a 10P10C modular connector, with a loop of wire connecting two of the pins together. Snipped that off (have no sockets available to match it). The wire itself is foil screened four conductor standard USB cable, with very sturdy neutral grey PVC insulation. Not bad coiled cable at all.tigpha wrote: ↑Hmm... Unfortunately the straight end that has the micro usb is not long enough for me to use it in my beamspring.

I was thinking the same thing. I asked donutcat about it and he offered to swap the connectors. It's an awesome design, I just wish it was a bit longer on both ends and the coil started ~10" after the micro usb connector.codemonkeymike wrote: ↑Unfortunately the straight end that has the micro usb is not long enough for me to use it in my beamspring.

I got an invoice. I'm curious when these will ship out. I am using an adapter / extension cable to get some extra length since I thought the end of these cables would be too short.
