The rules are simple:

Accessories only (no keyboards)
Shipping is split among all orders (according to the EK FAQ max. $82)
Everyone pays 20% of their order value to cover the VAT
I will collect the money for the items + shipping to me first and send you another invoice for the shipping to you when I get the stuff
You can pay directly after the deadline via PayPal [or wire transfer in Germany]
No PayPal gifts! You'll pay 4% of the final price to cover the PayPal fees if you choose PayPal

As regards the shipping: do you want to split it equally among all participants, or each according to the value of their order? (E.g., I buy stuff for 30, you buy stuff for 60, which means that I pay 1/3 of the total cost and you pay 2/3.) I'd much prefer to split it according to the value of what people ordered.

The sole reason this group buy exists is the insane shipping from EK to Germany/Europe and I wanted this to be a good deal for everyone.
With the current orders the shipping per head will be $16 which is cheap in contrast to the $50+ they take.
Your order alone would be $56 for shipping.

I hope that we find one or two more people so we can get the shipping to around $10.

What goes wrong when keyboards are added into the equation? Does EK's shipping go crazy, or is it the group buy organiser >> final customer step that's the problem?

You're right, the reason is that I don't have a car and taking tons of keyboards home by bus is rather uncomfortable

I added 10 Realforce keyboards to my shopping cart and the maximum shipping (just like their FAQ states) is $82.56.

If someone definitely wants something I could probably order one or two keyboards. But like I said I don't want to end up with a huge package and if you consider buying a $300 keyboard the $50 shipping don't look that high anymore

EDIT: Oh and if we add keyboards the shipping goes up to 82 and we would need even more people (at least 6 orders) to get lower shipping per head than it is now.

Alright. We already reached the max. shipping EK charges ($82). Current shipping per head is $16.5.

I'm considering to remove the "no keyboards" rule since every order from now on will make it cheaper for everyone... hmm

Hi guys,

Thought I'd clarify our shipping policies, as some of them are buried deep in the FAQ. Namely I want to elaborate on one particular point for buyers outside the US:

"If you're ordering more than 3 keyboards, please e-mail us for shipping pricing"

The reason it's three keyboards has more to do with the value than anything else since the default shipping method is EMS. The soft boundary is 750 USD; much over this and we'll only ship with FedEx, for which we'll have to give you a custom quote.

Whatever the order is, if it is going to have more than five or so items in it, then I'd recommend you email us for a custom shipping quote. No we will probably not ship 10 keyboards to EU for $82:( However, if you're buying a bunch of smaller items, we may be able to give you a better shipping price than the shopping cart calculates since the minimum product weight that the shipping calculator will deal with can throw off calculations for large numbers of items.

I don't have the cash for an HHKB right now, unfortunately. And no one else has stepped in with a request for a keyboard of their own. So I think the order Ne0phyte has listed at the top of the tread is essentially complete.

No more orders are being accepted!

EDIT: We lost one order (the HHKB) so asuming the cart price is correct the shipping per head went down to around $14.50.
I mailed EK for a custom shipping quote.

By the way: I charged 20% for VAT instead of 19% in case that the exchange rate changed when I'm going to get the stuff from the customs. I will use the leftover money if any to cover a part of the shipping to you.
