[IC/GB] (UK/Europe only) Importing from EK/US shops.

I am a Topre/MX keyboard user and as easy as it is to get SOME MX caps, you cannot get the full selection you can in the US and don’t get me started with trying to even get Topre keycaps! I have found that a lot of keycap/keyboard shops are in the US, and well the shipping can mount up pretty quickly, so all I am proposing is that I would be happy to do the admin, but i was thinking about putting a GB of all the sets/keys that people want from EK and so forth, getting one package shipped to me in the UK, then I can distribute out to all those that want to partake.

Websites I am considering (open to suggestions) :
http://www.elitekeyboards.com/
http://keycapsdirect.com/marketplace.php
http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/
ALSO, Group orders from Feng is also a possibility because he has some awesome keycaps that i love!

Love to get some feedback,
Kind regards
AvJaB

Ne0phyte ran an EK mini GB some months ago. See how it went, here:

It's probably about time for another.

The SP (keycapsdirect) shipping isn't that bad. But since I need a few single keys from their inventory I'd be in.

I don't think a GB for several different sites will work out, though.

How is shipping costs from UK to Europe, to Norway for example?

Shipping into and out of the Nordics is pretty bad. (Denmark and Finland I know through experience, Norway I'm guessing is similar.) Britain is mid-rank for shipping costs. Germany's the best.

I shall check about the GB Muirium, and i just got some keycaps from SP (keycaps direct) and it was only $9 so they are not to bad, but for Ek for example, you're looking at $52 for shipping to the uk, so i presume its a similar price to Norway

I don't need a lot, but I'd join this for sure. Especially interested in EK.

I could also proxy over Germany. The problem here is VAT ... if the full price of the package according to the enclosed documents is more than 30 €, chances are somewhat slim to not have to pay 19% VAT on the whole sum. I gouess nowadays it should be the same everywhere in the EU though.

Hard to see what the cost savings would be, doing several vendors in parallel. This would make more sense if there was a US proxy, who shipped all this stuff to Europe in one go, optimising shipping costs.

I am interested as well (SP and Originative).

But Muirium raises a good point. If too much resending and proxying is involved it probably eats up the savings. If we only save like 2$ per person it's not worth the hustle in my opinion.

Do you need someone in the US to collect everything onto one parcel? I can help you if you like.

Well to be fair, This is my first IC/GB so im still learning, but i see what you mean, i was going to try and get a couple of orders together, for example 4 people want things from EK and 7 from SP then shipping and tax can be shared, but i'd like to keep the ammount of vendors down,

But using a US proxy would be a good idea :)

Then I'd talk to IvanIvanovic if I were you! That's a great offer of help.
