[IC] Cherry MX LOCK switches

EDIT:
7bit has organised to get MXLOCKs straight from source at the MUCH cheaper price of €1.20 per switch!
GO GO GO GO GO GO GO
MXLOCKs!
Latching Cherry MX Lock key switch group buy.
Want keys to stay down when pressed? Like your Caps to really
Lock? Then this switch is for you. Cherry's one and only locking MX. It feels linear like an MX black, and features an LED recess like every other MX, but slightly off centre (see the picture). 7bit doesn't sell them because of the 4000 minimum order number, but together we can make it!

Who would be interested in getting some?

I don't know about prices yet.
7bit says that they will be €2.7 - €3
MOQ:
MOQ is 4000!
If you want in, post in here or PM me letting me know you're interested and if possible, how many you'd like.
Cheers.

Interest list: 27 people!
If you need more motivation to buy some MXLOCKS, then
here is a motivating argument:

I am interested but not sure about the number at the moment

That's fine! Like I said, I don't really expect anyone to be able to commit to switches of an unknown price.

Price would be around 2.7 and 3 EUR.

Thanks 7bit, I'll update the first post with that.

Count me in for some. Don't know how many, depends how many MX keyboards I get making!

by scottc
Great, only 1333.3 each!

I would be interested in a nominal quantity.
Ideally we would find a "killer app" for these, something that involves a lot of things that should be on or off. An organ stop emulator board?
Or for this sort of setup cost, perhaps you could try asking for clear tops if that would get a few more people interested.

You could put a diode in each switch which lights up when the switch is locked and sell it as a geeky toy to kids.
You could put them on an 8x8 matrix and call it a vintage chess-computer!

So that's about sixty build-you-own vintage chess-computer kits with some spares available. That almost sounds reasonable.

by scottc
You could mod all of your existing Cherry MX keyboards to use them for all of their switches!
Good idea, facetsesame!

I'll take a few around ~5 depending on the price.
Btw, why don't you guys combine IC with GH ? I think there are quite a number of people wanting mx locks over there as well.

I got my handful of MXLOCKs via a quick little group buy at GH (the organiser contacted me over here, he had found a retailer selling 40 if I remember). 5 is a nice number for projects, but I knew Scott wanted some badly so I sold him 2 at cost. One is in my 60% so I'm down to 2 spare now. Need more MXLOCK!
Wonder how many of a 4000 box 7bit would be willing to invest in…

Hmm I mean if we don't get rid of all of the 4000 7bit can just keep some in stock? They will get sold sooner or later anyways.

Looks like everyone has decided that 10 keys is a good amount to get, so I guess I'll join in for that amount as well!

by Muirium
Just need 400 people in for 10! Or maybe fewer if 7bit joins in.
Just… hmm.
