Want keys to stay down when pressed? Like your Caps to really Lock? Then this switch is for you. Cherry's one and only locking MX. It feels linear like an MX black, and features an LED recess like every other MX, but slightly off centre (see the picture). 7bit doesn't sell them because of the 4000 minimum order number, but together we can make it!

I would be interested in a nominal quantity.

Ideally we would find a "killer app" for these, something that involves a lot of things that should be on or off. An organ stop emulator board?

Or for this sort of setup cost, perhaps you could try asking for clear tops if that would get a few more people interested.

You could put a diode in each switch which lights up when the switch is locked and sell it as a geeky toy to kids.


You could put them on an 8x8 matrix and call it a vintage chess-computer!

So that's about sixty build-you-own vintage chess-computer kits with some spares available. That almost sounds reasonable.

You could mod all of your existing Cherry MX keyboards to use them for all of their switches!

Btw, why don't you guys combine IC with GH ? I think there are quite a number of people wanting mx locks over there as well.

I got my handful of MXLOCKs via a quick little group buy at GH (the organiser contacted me over here, he had found a retailer selling 40 if I remember). 5 is a nice number for projects, but I knew Scott wanted some badly so I sold him 2 at cost. One is in my 60% so I'm down to 2 spare now. Need more MXLOCK!
