WTB damaged IBM M15 or just knob

Dear friends, some time ago I bought this keyboard, but due to a strange coincidence, the most important part of the keyboard was lost on the way to me - the knob.
Attempts to find out how this could happen led me to understand that it was all the fault of the customs officers who performed the inspection at the border.
As a result, I have long been trying to find this connecting part in private mode. So far, attempts to find it have not yielded results. I finally decided to share my pain with all members of the community. I hope someday there will be someone who has a broken m15, and it will be possible without remorse to harvest that part . Maybe someone knows the owner of such a keyboard and can connect me to.

I want to apologize in advance, but it may take years to solve the problem, so I will bump this post from time to time.

I want to find this part of keyboard:

Thanks for your attention

Sorry to hear this. I think your best option will be to fabricate a new knob.

Well, I haven't lost hope of finding the original one yet, especially since it's still more of a showpiece

Not properly aesthetic, but a stainless (inox) or brass acorn nut might make the unit functional at very little cost.

I have never had one of these, so I can't help with the size, but it will be in Imperial measure and that will be hard to find in Russia.

Maybe 3D print a handle for the nut

Maybe you can ask someone to model and 3D print a new wheel (with a space for the appropriate size nut)

I want to find the original one, one of the main damage to the m15 is the break off of the body part, with which the parts are connected, for example

I hope to find the owner of the so damaged keyboard sooner or later, and buy it back from him

Ok, couldn’t you just find a nut that fits the thread and holds it onto the plastic? Then for aesthetics you could file it down with a dremmel, and like spatch it up with some kind of plastic putty and paint to match. You would lose the tending functionality but it would hold it. Either that or get someone to build a 3D model and 3D print it.

Probably not the most helpful response but I thought I’d give it a shot.

if you still have the broken piece you could use model cement to get it back togehter although there will be a crack its could fix it. model cement basically melts the plastic togehter but not in as in melt due to heat, i used it to repair my barrel plate on my model m its very rigid and cheap to get in any model shop or online. mine came in a bottle with a very very small nozzle so its easy to apply small amount along the crack

Have you tried messaging Unicomp? They have warehouse spares of Model M parts.

I want to think there is hope to find a donor with a broken body or something someday, even if it takes years to find but of course this option may not be fiscally responsible as even a damaged one may prove expensive. I've only ever seen a small handful of these show up for sale in any condition since I've been collecting. Also that photo of that cracked body is the stuff of nightmares. Turn the knob too tight and crack :(

I'm good with CAD and well set up for 3D printing if you want me to make a clone. Recent clone I did:

Measurements/pics/loan from someone who has one on hand would be helpful.

@Damonskv.

While I do not have an extra, spare adjustable knob for the 13H6689 (IBM Model M15)

...and after getting inundated in email requests from Chyros' model M15 YouTube video (March 5, 2021). https://youtu.be/oNnW4wED4uU

I did some reorganizing of my model M15 collection this weekend and here are some additional photos of the part you are seeking for reference. Hopefully the photos will help in triggering the memory of others.

Good luck with your search.
