Hi! I know this is a bit of a long shot, but I am looking to trade/buy a beamspring 3279/3278a02 or any other rare beamer that isn't 5251, 3101, or 6850.
The 3279 looks like this with the addition of black top and multiple buttons and lights:

Either restored or unrestored works. Please PM me if you have one.
I have paypal, and the following up for trade:
- IBM 5251 Pristine Condition, zero rust on plate, converted via compact beamspring controller with working solenoid
- 3278 Keyboard pristine condition with manual included
- 3101 Keyboard great condition converted to USB-QMK
- 1-5_23371.jpg (1.04 MiB) Viewed 3680 times
- 3276 Keyboard restored, tribosys lubed on sliders with working solenoid and clear coat on metal case
- 5jLzMOE.jpg (4.51 MiB) Viewed 5715 times
- IBM 5322 Datamaster. It worked when I first got it, has some sort of PSU issue. I'm sure that someone else with the skills could get it to working order.

Please PM me if you have one you would be willing to trade, I would be very grateful

Unfortunately no, I'm about to get a 3276 soon so I'm not looking for this variant. Really wanting the 3279 for the colored caps and the gorgeous logo, It's pretty much aesthetics I'm after. Thanks for looking out for me though

Well there was no actual sold listing proof, so I wouldn't consider it accurate info.

Hi! I know this is a bit of a long shot, but I am looking to trade/buy a beamspring 3279
or 3278 or any other rare beamer that isn't 5251, 3101, or 6850.
The 3279 looks like this with the addition of black top and multiple buttons and lights:
ibm-keyboard-3278-model-2a-very-rare-beam-spring-3279.jpg
Either restored or unrestored works. Please PM me if you have one.
Actually, as the filename shows, this isn't a regular 3279, but a 3278 model 2A. And yes, it's probably rarer. The regular 3279 used a 3278 keyboard (possibly with a couple of different key legends). The 3278-2A was the system console for the 4331 and 4341 mainframes. The buttons and lights at the top are for powering the system on and off, and IMLing it (doing an initial microcode load, basically resetting and reloading everything that made the computer know how to be an IBM mainframe).
The Wikipedia picture of a 3279 in the 3270 article is actually not a regular 3279, but a 3279 model 2C, which was the console version. If you look, the buttons and lights and keys are slightly different from the 3278-2A. I
think the 3279-2C was used with the 4361 and 4381, but it's been far too long since I saw one of those machines to know for sure.

Great knowledge! Fee like editing the DT wiki? I have the 3279 that looks like a 3278 with keys for the colors that became available on the color display station. The booklet says it’s a 3279. It’s a 3279. Folks associate 9 with lit buttons on top only.
