Just wanted to thank the community for creating such an informative and helpful resource. I recently completed a custom keyboard which I actually like better than my previous commercial one, and most of the information I got about how to build such a thing came from this forum.

I had the exact problem with my stabilizers.

Is the cad file floating around slightly inaccurate? If so, we aught to change it and redistribute a correct one.

Despite that, you did a much better job of keeping the plate neat and tidy than I did.

The wood is quite tasteful too :)

The stabilizer thing is weird. I found a couple threads that reference the offset from the top of the switch hole to the top of the stabilizer hole as 0.03in or 0.75mm, which is how I designed the plate; however, they were uniformly off (the stabilizer insert stems were slightly more towards the bottom of the keyboard than the switch stems) and I had to shave a fair amount of material off the stabilizer frame in order to keep the keys from sticking.

Next time I'll try to make a model of the whole stabilizer assembly and hopefully get a more precise dimension of how the holes should relate to one another to line everything up.

Fantastic work! The keyboard looks excellent.

The various how-tos for modding and creating keyboards is probably my favourite thing here on DT. We have a really great community here.
