Please suggest nominees for the Best self-build keyboard in 2014. You have to give a short motivation for each suggestion. The keyboard must have been built since November 2013.
By voting in the third round of this category, you can
win a keyboard cable from Pexon PCs!
In this round you can earn multiple entries in the draws for voter prizes: if you are the first to suggest a particular nominee and the suggestion gets at least 5 votes in round 2, you get an extra entry in the draw for the prize by the sponsor of the related category. If your suggestion is voted as an official nominee and makes it to round 3, you get another extra entry.
The first round ends on Thursday 27 November, 00:00hrs UTC.
Current suggestions (this list is frequently updated):
- matt3o's Bianca
- XTant keyboard
- Kurplop’s ergo board
- Atreus
- lowpoly's last MiniGuru prototype
- vvp's Katy keyboard
- ne0phyte's THKB
- euf0ria's TANK 93

I'd like to nominate matt3o's Bianca:
My motivation: the stabiliser-free layout is an excellent idea, and I think that Bianca pulls it off very well.
I'd also like to nominate ne0phyte's THKB since I believe it was actually made this year, despite being planned before. Does that count?
My motivation: It's like a HHKB, but even smaller. What's not to like?
Edit: Added motivations.

Atreus, ergo 40% and unlike suka's (cool) creations, it's available as a DIY kit.

Alright, then I'll nominate those here:
Nuum wrote: ↑Since lowpoly has a working prototype of his Miniguru, I would like to nominate him for this award. I really like the idea of a integrated trackpoint in a keyboard, also I like the idea of the mouse switches in front of the spacebar and a capacitive switch under the spacebar as a FN key.

Also I'd like to nominate the Katy keyboard from vvp for his new approach to a ergonomic keyboard. While I'm not into ergonomic keyboards myself I think it didn't get the attention it deserved and I really like the progress he made with it.

The Miniguru might be from 2009 but the latest prototype is from 2014, but it's on you to decide whether that counts, webwit.

I have another one:

I want to nominate the OneHand because of it's different typing style, chords instead of single buttons for the different keys and for its supersmall form factor.
This might as well go into alternate input device, but since it is self build I think it fits in here.

OneHand was in the running last year. As was Neo's THKB:

Oops, one less on the list. Lots of great self-builds in the Workshop. Only hours to go!

EDIT: webwit was faster
Yeah, that's true, although as scottc said:

Last year was nothing but a plate and a breadboard. This year I actually made a keyboard with PCB and controller out of it.
I guess webwit has do decide

You say on your thread you haven't finished it yet. Maybe the best solution is to shoot for next year? I like the THKB, and want it to win a prize… when it's done.
Speaking of which, can I nominate euf0ria's TANK 93 project? Almost finished, almost!

I've added it to the list so the voters can decide.

EDIT: webwit was faster again haha
Don't get me wrong, I don't insist on being listed this year
And yeah, it's on hold again but I hope that I will be able to say it's finished eventually. Still missing a proper case and I was working on another PCB with an SMD Atmega..
Guess it makes sense to wait until it's final.
