F5 to F8 should be enough and not too expensive.

Am i the only one to like a uniform function row ???

I also like uniform function row! You are not alone. Though it's not the end of the world for me if f5-f8 are mods colour.

Me too. And ditto for my media keys, which are jumbled up between different models anyway.

considering that I'm not adding keys to the alpha kit, where would you like the inverted F-row keys?

also, do you think the nerdom should be all dark gray?

Maybe pro kit if it is not too expensive for only F5 to F8 but it is not the perfect place or a new individual function kit with F1 to F12 with inversed color.

Like Muirium said it is not the end of the world. I think it is cool to have them when you only have to add 7 to 12 USD to your order. And it is gonna be pretty on a Kmac mini style keyboard.

it probably needs a new kit (with also light gray ESC), but I seriously doubt it would reach the moq...

Wondering if this would ever reach the MOQ

Not what I'm after. And admittedly, there's not a silver bullet I can think of to fix this.

since it seems that people don't see it because of the misleading title, I renamed the pear kit.

Muir, would you confirm this?

Nice! Should be a little easier to find now. The uniform colour is much better, as sometimes those functions wind up split, with some way over Scroll Lock's direction, depending on the keyboard manufacturer. Thanks.

Literally the only thing I'm after now is chevron Control. Is everyone happy with the current cursor arrows?

why you say so?

Right enough, I don't see any WIN keys anywhere. Hadn't bothered to look.

You don't want the flag logo, do you? Unlike ⌘ that one is copyrighted and officially requires a license from Microsoft. Mac keyboards don't actually have any Apple logos on the keys nowadays.

Posted: 16 Mar 2014, 13:52
by Ichigo87
there is no win text keycaps... a little win kit with 2 1u and 2 1.25u.

Flag logo would be nice but i know about the copyright, too bad...

There's not Apple logo either. The Apple kit is for the modifiers, that windows users already have in the mod kit.

Last crazy idea...

At least 25 people swear to buy the "madness kit" and each of them can have 1 custom keycap of their choice. No question asked.

Ooh, that's an interesting idea. Lemme think about if there's a key I'd want.

Posted: 16 Mar 2014, 13:58
by matt3o
PS: the cost of such a kit would be around $20 I guess (for 1u keys)

Posted: 16 Mar 2014, 14:03
by jdeblese
Would you accept non-1u keys?

jdeblese wrote:Would you accept non-1u keys?
I'd say up to 1.5u

You can have more than one, but you have to buy 1 kit for every custom key you want :P

Muir, would you confirm this?
The text legends of 1.25u option and 1.5u command seem to go across the border of the caps' tops. Same for 1.25u control in the text modifier kit. Will the text be shrunk or are the caps in reality big enough?

Good point.

Re: the Windows kit: the WIN key is a modifier, so Ichigo has a point. 7bit sells one:

He's sold about the same number of Windows and Apple kits:

Code: Select all

Order-ID |Ord|Stk|Pcs|Price|Cur|Description
HONEY/WINDOWS125 | 18| | 3| 3|USD|WINDOWS kit (1.25 units)
HONEY/WINDOWS125/WHITE | | | 3| 6|USD|WINDOWS kit (1.25 units)
HONEY/WINDOWS125/RED | 14| | 3| 4|USD|WINDOWS kit (1.25 units)
HONEY/WINDOWS125/BLACK | 15| | 3| 4|USD|WINDOWS kit (1.25 units)
HONEY/WINDOWS150 | 1| 22| 3| 9|USD|WINDOWS kit (1.5 units)
HONEY/APPLE125 | 14| | 4| 4|USD|APPLE kit (1.25 units)
HONEY/APPLE125/RED | 10| 4| 4| 5|USD|APPLE kit (1.25 units)
HONEY/APPLE125/BLACK | 16| | 4| 4|USD|APPLE kit (1.25 units)
HONEY/APPLE150 | 11| 12| 4| 8|USD|APPLE kit (1.5 units)
Because I bought the all-inclusive TENKLESS kits, I'm not even on those numbers, but I will certainly have both.

the text --of course-- will fit. I do not have SP templates yet. I don't know how big the text could be
Muirium wrote:Good point.

Re: the Windows kit: the WIN key is a modifier, so Ichigo has a point. 7bit sells one:
the WIN key IS a modifier that we already have. It is called "super".

Indeed I used "MENU", which is wrong.

Posted: 16 Mar 2014, 14:27
by Muirium
Technically, Command = Windows = Super, and Option = Alt. So the Apple kit (which I am all in favour of and will buy) is giving Mac users one up on leaving Windows without its own version of that key.

Posted: 16 Mar 2014, 14:29
by matt3o
do you want me to remove the command key? :)

edit: it is not a matter of what key does what, it's just branding. I'm not having any brand key. I have the TUX key which is hardly a brand and anyway it's open source.

edit 2: I can add text only WIN keys by the way, but no logos.

I might have found a compromise. This logo

Windows 1.0, which would fall in the safe land of memorabilia.

Looks to me like the logical evolution of the Windows logo for version 9.
