Do. Not. Get.
I bought one of those exact keyboards, and it may be my least-favourite keyboard. Of all the ones I own. Including rubber dome boards.

I think this is the oldest keyboard I've ever seen. Anyone recognize the switches?

It's some sort of modified electric typewriter module, or something meant to imitate a typewriter/teletype keyboard. I can tell by the long metal levers that can be seen from the bottom.

so long no see such a beauty and well preserved IBM 5155.
Is the seller from here? What do you wage about the winning bid?

The keyboard got German layout. There was one on Kleinanzeigen for 78€ but in not working condition. To be honest I don't know the value of these old computers.

Focus 5001 ... terminal keyboard. Cherry MX black. Looks like DEC layout. $55, which really isn't bad.

I was contemplating this until I checked the feedback based on your advise. Glad I did!

I've been eyeing that seller for a bit based on how interesting the boards are case/layout wise. Good to know there might be some trickery afoot. I don't plan to keep MX blacks in anything I buy if I plan to use it so switch swapping isn't exactly the end of the world for me I suppose. Still good to know.

I found a BTC-5100 on local shopping website for roughly 40USD shipped. I wonder if this is a good price, for it's a rubber dome, but it is BTC

Yah. Polecat messaged me after I posted it.
I also don't care about vintage or modern MX black. I just happen to have and have had a bunch of Focus-made keyboards and this is the first 5001 I've seen in that configuration, so it struck me as interesting. I didn't buy it, even though it sold for under $55, because my KB budget will be approximately $0 until I sell some stuff.

RE the 5100, you might want to ask the seller to pop off a key. You want dome with slider.
1. That is a bit too much. You might be able to find NOS (new old stock) cheaper on ebay.
2. Make sure it doesn't have the AT 6-pin DIN (yes, 6-pin, not 5 pin).
3. The ones with the 5-Pin DIN are supposed to be better than the PS/2 variants.
4. BTC 51-series full-size keyboards are supposed to be better.
I have a 5100c black/grey in almost mint condition. It's a very nice keyboard.

Additionally it really isn't a 5001, at least not the one we're used to seeing with the calculator and intended to plug into a PC. This is a terminal keyboard, some kind of DEC clone, and almost certainly does not speak AT or XT.

I never knew that BTC-5100 comes with membrane... It seems like I really have to be careful.
The connector looks like PS2 to me.
About the price, because I live in Taiwan, shipping on ebay usually costs a fortune for me

I remember seeing the below here, a few weeks back ...
I don't mean "same serial number," but same make/model (IBM 129 punch card machine). I can't remember if it was a beamspring or not. I'm too lazy to check.

Yep, you're correct. Caps will mount the same but not a beamspring.

Reminder to self: sell all my OmniKeys after I put blue Alps in them (I'm typing on one right now). $898. Hey, Polecat, wanna make some cash?
That Displaywriter set looks interesting. The HP 10833c thingy is just a cable. I think the video mentioned is

Well, none of mine are NOS, or NIB. Or NIBIB. I'd sure like to have a copy of that instruction book. I have five or six different Northgate manuals, but none for a Gen1. There are a couple interesting things about this one. First, it's a R-3 (Revision 3), with a model number of 560-0-0000003, instead of the usual 0000001. Only the second one I've seen with that, and it appears they went back to 0000001 shortly after. Nothing visually different, so that may reflect PC board and/or ROM versions. This may possibly be the one with the later PC board and 24 pin EPROM in the 28 pin socket. You can see here why the paper labels are often missing, even on a brand new example. I'm 99 percent sure those labels were attached after Northgate received the keyboards, since we've also seen those labels on Monterey and Silitek models that were rebadged as Northgates. Also interesting to see the letter referring to it as a "C/T" keyboard (Clicky/Tactile). That term was used in some of the Northgate ads in reference to the whole keyboard line, which at the time included rebadged 84 and 101 key Focus models (FK-727/747 and FK-555). $898 is a lot of money, but we've seen Leading Edge and others selling in that price range recently and I'm not quite ready to cash mine in yet.
