Is it possible to switch ALPs with Cherry switches?

I've been doing some desoldering on my ducky 1087XM board and replaced the green alps on it with cream alps from an AEK II. And to be honest I hate the AEK II switches, they are heavy as hell to activate.
When I did the desoldering I realized how easy it was, so I'm thinking about replacing the AEK II ALP switches with cherry switches. Will they fit? Will they work if they fit?
Oh, and I've taken some pics of the desoldering, heres the link if anyone wants to see how I did.
