I finally caved and purchased a new Model F - 104 keyboard from Modelfkeyboards.com.

During shipping and customs between the US and New Zealand approximately 50% of the springs fell out. After following various troubleshooting and setup guides I was eventually able to get all of the springs working and reseated with the exception of three (well, a fourth is intermittent but it may just need yet another reseat).

The three not working are all visually, slightly, bent or distorted.

Is there a source for replacement springs only? The flippers etc. are in good shape, it's really just the springs that are busted. (And with shipping costs, it seems silly to order $US 3 of keys and then eat the shipping costs to NZ on top of that).

Yes; the source for replacement springs is Model F Projects, whom you bought the keyboard from. I would have tried to get in touch with him first before posting here if he didn't offer a fair remedy first.

Was hoping to fix independently if possible, but yeah - I think I'll have to reach out.

Update: Finally reached out to Joe and he's been very helpful. Probably would have saved me some time if I'd just done that in the first place LOL.

Just as a general note:

The included booklet notes that everyone should be reading the manual first. It specifically notes that folks should be reaching out to me when needed and should not first post on the forums before going through the manual and contacting me if needed.

Regarding this specific situation, having discussed the issue, it appears that a customs inspector was over-eager and may have removed springs to have a better look at them (!) or the item was removed and repackaged in an insecure way that resulted in the keyboard moving around and pulling out the springs if they caught on something. This is highly unusual.
