Description
Only a single photograph of SPT-0101 exists; both the photograph and specification drawing show it as "TOKAI" branded in large type on the top.
The switch accepts Alps mount keycaps (the slider slot is given as 4.5 × 2.2 mm) and the shell appears to have an LED slot at the top. The illuminated version has part number SPT0102 (「照光タイプ(品番SPT0102)の供給も可能です」); no further details appear to be given about this variant. The website notes that the switch has a lifetime of 100 million operations due to being a non-contact design (「無接点化により1億回の超高寿命」).
Shell height is 11.5 mm, and total height including the slider is 15.4 mm. Total width is 17.2 mm, and total depth is 13.6 mm. The mounting plate hole is given as 15.5 × 12.8 mm.
Internally the switch uses an LED and a phototransistor; no physical details are known, but the specification document includes electronic characteristics.
History
The oldest recorded mention of SPT-0101 (as SPT 0101) is on the earlier Tokai website (www.tokaicom.co.jp), on the 20th of June 2000;[1] the website itself is archived back as far as 12th December 1998,[2] but the components page was not archived until 2000.
The full specifications PDF (scanned from printed material) first appeared on the then-new original products website (www.tokaicom.jp), which was first seen in October 2006; the SPT-0101 page was itself not archived until 2008.
The switch was still listed on the Tokai website in 2017 when the company declared bankruptcy.
