Today truly proved how bad vast my keyboard collection is. I opened a drawer to get my old car radio, and lone behold was greeted by an orange aek and a leading edge 2214 with early whites that feel like my blues. Explains the set of aek keycaps I have lying around, but sadly I don't know where the ...

Yeah i figured that's also a possiblity, but I did a quick check of all the joints before I put it back together and it all seemed ok, but hey that would be better than having a dead blue alps switch.

Just got finished with swapping my blues into the spare 2001 I had laying around. They so far are pretty great but its just gonna take a little time to get used to them after using cherrys for the past few months. Mostly smooth swap, althought the pins that got bent down are the bain of my exsistenc...

I noticed when I took apart the focus its definetly not the best chassis, its a lot of plastic but I do like the layout and the colored doubleshot keys are great.

Seems like a decent board to swap the swithces into, since its at such little cost to me-minus the hours spent desoldeirng.

I am looking for some thoutghts on a project idea I have going here. I picked up a pretty nice focus 2001 keyboard at a flea market this weekend for 10 bucks. Thing is, I already have one in basically mint condition and they both have white alps. I was originally gonna flip the board and make a nice...

Hm well it doesn't have Windows keys and it was made in Taiwan, so I'm hoping it's not clones. If it is I might just end up swapping blues into it. Things to consider when determining the type of switches in an FK-2001 are: -winkeys or not -layout (Northgate or Focus) -connector (PS/2 or DIN) -wher...

Bought this focus fk2000 on ebay today. It looks like its in great condition and the switches weren't shown or marked, I'm hoping they might be blue alps? Probably white which is fine too for the price. I need to stop buying keyboards for a little.... Definitely not blue Alps. I almost bid on this ...

Blue Alps is very unlikely, most likely it will be white. I know, but hey I can hope! I don't have a white alps board atm and I can't get an omnikey ultra from bob right now, so this will make do for a little while. Plus if it was blue it would mean I wouldn't have to keep working on my mess of a b...

Got these three AEK's today along with 2 cream damped AEK2's, can't wait to start cleaning them. I'm pretty sure they are all orange switches, so I'm thinking about doing something with the switches from one of them. http://i.imgur.com/ds4L1eF.jpg Are these from Goodwill?. The auction that went for...

I'm going to try the just oxyclean method, the gel hasn't been working well recently. What was the ratio of water to oxyclean you used?

Its quite a shame, the green alps swithces really are signicantly smoother linear switches.

So it's *ALSO* a ZKB-2. Weird. The plot thickens. Zenith were extremely poor with listing their model numbers correctly, though xD . seems so, I could see it being a mislabeled 163-73 but who knows, i'll just go with the label lol. Maybe the xt/at switch cover was replaced with one from the 73? EDI...

It is indeed a zkb2 163-40 according to the label, but it is odd that is a 1989 year model so that coincides with the release of the 163-73.

Got this Zenith zkb2 in the other day, its my first time with linear alps and they've been growing on me. Probably payed 10-15 more than I should have but the year model lead me to think there was a chance it had green alps, not yellow. But hey the fact it looks like its been in storage for its enti...

Hey guys, I was recommened here by mastermachetier, and was hoping someone could help me with my current restoration project. I bought a datatech spk-100 a few years back(5 bucks at a flea, talk about a steal) and just recently refound it. It was in very rough and unworking condition when I original...
