That's a Focus. It's working reliably, irrespective of its condition, is not entirely guaranteed. They made some really cool boards, and they used the best non-IBM switches in my opinion (Alps electric switches, usually whites), but the build quality of the boards and the quality of their electronics

1) I like the battleship layout. I don't mean I think its the most adaptable to a modern layout: I prefer it to a standard 100% in every way people complain about it as inferior: I prefer the cross nav, I prefer placing my escape key at the top left of the left function cluster,

That is a fair criticism.
Layout choices like this can work well for some users, but they do create a real trade-off for people who rely on right Shift by muscle memory.
This is exactly the kind of feedback that is useful at the IC stage.

I love the way these boards look, and am trying to get at least one unit perfectly restored and functional. Upon removing the caps on the first one I acquired, I noticed the metal base plate that holds all of the switches was chipping paint and rusting. I have since obtained a second identical unit,
