Re: MT3 Doubleshot
Hnnnng! Just discovered this thread today. If there were cylindrical caps in these colors, ortholinear but with a 2U left shift, I'd bankrupt myself for it! That goes double if it has the Atari ST's keycap font . The subtle subversion of the muted style with small but brightly-colored lettering is s...

Re: Some parallel ASCII keyboards
https://deskthority.net/download/file.php?id=65963 That layout is a beautiful thing! Showing all the ASCII control codes is cool, but the separate LF and CR keys are something else! :D I would have loved that on the Linux console in the 90s. Not so much now though. :) About the same goes for bit-pa...

Re:
I've missed this thread. I'd buy about half the keyboards in it. Only about half though. :o That wooden one is intriguing. It initially repelled me because it looks so old and grimy, but looking closer, a lot of work went into it. Also, I often find myself wanting to make my own keycaps, and I...

Re: The Tardis Keyboard: More than you wanted to know
If you don't mind me butting in, I see you've put an Arduino in already, but could you have reprogrammed the Z80 to speak PS/2 and used a PS/2 to USB converter? Or would that be a poor choice anyway?

Before posting this, I read a thread describing an ultrasonic cleaner not working well on plastic, taking far longer than it did on metal. In the end, one of the guys found 48 hours with some denture tabs worked much better. There's that, and my lack of space, and my experience of PBS caps coming up...

I don't often double-post and I obviously don't often complain about bright colors, but this Amazon find just caught me the wrong way: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/717RtR0IupL._SL1000_.jpg https://www.amazon.co.uk/UrChoiceLtd%C2%AE-Multimedia-Ergonomic-Keyboard-Computer/dp/B01CCQ...

So yeah. All those gaudy keyboards out there. Their contribution to good taste may be subjective, but at least they aren't beige. +1,000,000. In my teenage years, it seemed everyone with any amount of responsibility and sense -- anyone worth looking up to at all -- hated color and nice shapes as if...

So shiny! I can has?
My apologies for reposting something from the ugliest keyboards thread, but I'd love to know what the outer keycaps are, (the round ones,) if they're available anywhere, if they take paper labels, and if they fit Cherry. There was no info in the original post. https://deskthority.net/resources...

ABS in dishwasher?
Just checking, are ABS keycaps likely to survive a run through the dishwasher? It's not a classic keyboard, in fact it's one I'm a little bit annoyed with, but would just be useful right now.

I like the pop-up floppy drive. :) Apart from the handle, it doesn't look in any worse state than my Toshiba T1200. I keep meaning to do something with my T1200, but it needs capacitors replacing to even turn on now, and the screen's very small. Have fun with your keyboard! :) I'd say more, but my I...

It seems people forget (if they knew it to begin with) that prof. Dvorak was an educational psychologist and half of the point of the Simplified Keyboard is that it should be much easier to learn to type properly on it. Just because he was an educational psychologist doesn't mean he wasn't crazy. P...

What a nightmare! I don't touch-type, my hands have the wrong proportions for it, but I still don't look at every key. There's a huge range of typing styles between touch-typing at one extreme and "hunting and pecking" at the other, which all get ignored in these discussions. (There's also a wide ra...

Apostrophes are logical enough, but I can understand native English speakers reluctance to try to understand anything about their language because school teaches us many of the normal, natural constructs of our language are wrong, and we ought to be using this different grammar which is not natural ...

I want a "Bonbon" key
I bought a foreign-language POS keyboard recently, and it's put me in the mood for keycaps with silly text. I want a "Bonbon" key. :D Crazy-long German words that sound like thunder are always fun too, but I'm not sure what to think of the fact that half these keys have something to do with prescrip...

For my delicate, graceful hands (ahem :)), equal stagger is much nicer than normal, but I only had one keyboard with equal stagger and it had dreadful rubber domes, so I didn't keep using it. Even so, I don't really like the stagger between the q and a rows, as small as it is. Seeing columnar stagge...

"Like typing on wet newspaper" sounds dreadful! I almost want to offer sympathies for your terrible experience. lol~ Looking at the Key Tronic picture on the wiki, I see the foam is quite thin. Well, that cleared up my questions on foam & foil. I had an f&f 'board about 18 years ago -- much nearer to when it was new. I didn't have anything that could work with it, nor the skills to make my own controller; I couldn't quite cut it with board design and programming at the time. The key action...
