Re: Opinions on Mechanical Keyboards
Thanks for the replies. I was never very active here, but I definitely remember this forum being much more lively a few years ago. reddit is not my thing, so I won't be jumping there, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the nexthority project. Do you need an invitation to the discord? If you're i...

Re: Opinions on Mechanical Keyboards
In the meantime, are there any other forums on vintage keyboards, that are worth visiting? The traffic on DT is really disappointing.
I know there is geekhack and r/MechanicalKeyboards, but those are more about modern mechs, mods and Topre cult.

Re: Got a boxed BTC 5139
Thanks, mate. You're right, it's a nice layout. I don't even mind the shorter right Shift that much. And the lock lights overlay is very elegant. It took me a while to find this keyboard, because I wanted one with no yellowing, no retrobrighting performed and in good condition, so that I can try tho...

Got a boxed BTC 5139
Guys, I just got a boxed BTC 5139 with a User's Guide leaflet and all. It's not brand new and wasn't particularly clean, but because only 5 or 6 keycaps show any signs of wear, I think it wasn't used for typing. It's likely it was utilised to control some kind of a process and judging by the black d...

Re: Recent find: Deyi KB-1000... tentatively
The only clear external difference is the little notch on the top edge of the housing, opposite the branding. All the KPT and KPT-like unbranded switches, I've seen on the net, have a longer rectangular notch. The branded TEC switches have a semicircle one. If you ever feel like parting with it let ...

Re: Recent find: Deyi KB-1000... tentatively
The issue you mention with switches not registering immediately is I think known as “hard starting”. I’ve had it too, but only with boards that have lain unused for a long time. Perhaps a small amount of built-up corrosion blocks the electrical contact, but is dislodged by a few presses of the key....

Recent find: Deyi KB-1000... tentatively
Hi everyone. I'd like to share a few finds, that might interest some of you, starting with the most recent one, tentatively named Deyi KB-1000 https://i.imgur.com/9XX3K6j.jpg Tentatively, because there is no branding on the keyboard and all the FCC ID search reveals is that it was registered to Deyi...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread
I think that could be a Deyi foam-and-foil switch. Check this thread : the housings look identical but the sliders are slightly different. Because the slider is sunken into the barrel I suspect that the foam at the bottom of the slider would have deteriorated and crumbled apart with age. That is a ...

Re: IDENTIFY THE KEYSWITCH thread
Can anyone identify this one? Looks like a cross between Futaba MA and BTC foam and foil. It's from an unidentified Chicony keyboard.
Spoiler:

Anyone has any idea what this is? http://i.imgur.com/4jgN3dU.jpg http://i.imgur.com/xz1tRpZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/fP4zh2i.jpg All I know is, that it's most probably a Polish mechanical keyboard (or made by someone for a Polish company). The badge on the left says "ICE Komputer Personalny AT", which...

Does anyone know what the difference is between a normal Chicony KB-5191 and one with strangely elevated Num Lock, Caps Lock, Scroll Lock and On-Line indicators, like THIS one? So, I ended up buying the keyboard - it was a bargain. Since it's an old dirty keyboard, I didn't expect much. It arrived ...

Costar CSK-1102S ver 1.5 apparently with alps.tw Type OD1 (?)
Some of you may already know, that I managed to acquire a rare Costar CSK-1102S keyboard. It has some kind of Alps mount switches that terrycherry identified as alps.tw Type OD1 in the In the IDENTIFY THE KEYBOARD thread . Here are some pictures: http://i.imgur.com/va7ALqX.jpg The board. Note the bl...

The FCC ID is GS23TYCSK-1101S. Apparently Costar made a keyboard for Wang with the same FCC ID and it uses Omron B3G-S switches. It's possible that these are Omoron with flat sliders, that are not yet documented on the Webs, but I think it is more likely terrycherry is correct this time and the swit...

Ooooh, so nice. I love Polish typist layout, but this is even cooler: Polish programmer with typist second legends! Where did you get it, Allegro? Edit: and welcome to DT! :D Thanks. Yes. Got it on Allegro. $25 after conversion. I'm still not sure what the difference between the 747 and 727 is, but...

Hi guys. This is my first post on the forum and in it I'd like to go back to the discussion you had on the previous page about Focus keyboards. I managed to acquire an old keyboard with Alps SKCM Blue switches. On the back of the PCB it says Focus FK-727/747, so I guess it's one of these or some Foc...
