That G80-5000 is a bit of grail, as is the 9039, although I feel I'd need a new office just to put it in.

Cherry has discontinued its Viola switches
Reference from the last earnings call/figures - the budget-friendly Cherry Viola switches have been discontinued, as have any Cherry-manufactured keyboards with the switches in them. Cherry had only one AFAIK - the MV 3.0. Reference: https://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/CHERRY-SE-124221556/new...

Not sure who needs to know this, but the website of OneCommerce now mentions a focus on the MENA region. Not sure what this means for DT.

Re: GOOD Cherry MX Switches
The Varmilo EC switches are non-contact I think, and feature an MX stem, which feel pretty good. Been typing on the Ivy switches, which are one of the smoothest clicky tactile switches I've used. In terms of actual good MXs, Browns still remain king for me alongside Clears, and the MX ULP switches f...

Topre Sliders & Feeling
Hey all, Just received an HHKB Hybrid Type S through the door for review, and have been using it for the last couple of days for testing purposes, and have noticed it's a lot crisper to type on than the RealForce R2 PFU I've also got. Both use the same silenced 45g switches, and the only difference ...

Re: Corsair K100 Air Wireless
It had been put into a couple of "gaming laptops" last year, as part of an exclusivity deal (which Cherry likes to do with new switch designs for some reason  ). Linus of Linus Tech Tips gave his impression of it. The keyboard he's comparing it to (which he doesn't like) has linear feel. Sinc...

Corsair K100 Air Wireless
Know it's a gaming board, but first one I've seen with these MX Ultra Low Profiles from Cherry - out in a couple weeks. Will be intrigued to see how it feels.

Re: MX Clear Pins
If you don't use RGB anyway you might be better of to make sure to turn off the LED. LED don't have much power but I remember a very discolored alluminium case from not turning off underglow LED and I don't know if Switches not made for SMD dissipate the otherwise neglectable heat from LED too badl...

Re: MX Clear Pins
So, the Keychron arrived today, and the Clears were 3 pins - all fitted in fine (minus one terrible case of some bent pins), and nothing's gone awry so far. Sure, I can't see the RGB, but it's not that big of deal to me, truth be told.

Re: MX Clear Pins
My MX Clears came with 3 pins (I don't know if there are 5 pin variants), the keychron Q1 supports both 3 pin and 5 pin switches for hot-swap. Actually, anything that supports 5 pin also supports 3 pin. 5 pin is more stable though, which I personally only care for in hot-swap but 3 pin hot-swap sho...

MX Clear Pins
Hey all, Just a quick question - thinking of picking up a Keychron Q1 barebones kit just to try out this DIY gubbins and was going to pair it with some MX Clear switches. Does anybody know if the MX Clears come with 3 or 5 pin mounts, and whether this matters for a barebones kit? And, is this thing ...

Differences between CHERRY MY & Topre
Me again, So, I've been using a Topre Realforce 105UFB for a few days and have to admit, am impressed by its overall feeling. I've used a couple of G81-3000s in the past with MYs inside (FTSC) and it got me thinking - what's the difference between the way FTSC keyboards work and the way that capacit...

TopreNiz Thoughts
Hey all, Currently typing on a Topre Realforce 105U lent to me by The Keyboard Company, and have a new Niz here to hand - literally the first time I've ever used this type of switch, and it feels...rather odd. I can't actually place my thoughts on these as the 45g force makes it feel like MX Reds bu...

Buckling Spring Switch Life
Hey all, Me again! Just another IBM related query - does anyone know the rated switch life as it were of buckling springs? Writing a review on the Unicomp New Model M and I don't know too much about their longevity as such (of course, 35 years worth of constant input). Any help would be appreciated!...

Unicomp New Model M Differences
Hey all,
Hope you're all well.
Just a query - picked up a New Model M a couple months back and just wondered what the differences are between this new and refreshed iteration and previous ones?
Any help would be appreciated!

Re: The mystery of DT's new owner - SOLVED
Uhm, folks... I realize I'm not a keyboard grognard with thousands of bolt-modded Model Ms and a 3279, but...maybe, just maybe, instead of splintering the community...how about we give the guy a chance to prove his intentions - and in particular whether they're entirely money-oriented; he wouldn't ...

thinking of picking up one of Unicomp's new Ms just to try it out. Then I might go a little more vintage. Great starting point. If they were making them 10 years ago, I'd have grabbed one for myself and could have been quite delighted. Compelling price. Cheers - haven't they also done an SSK versio...
