I admit that it is hard to beat that design in thickness if you are going as far as filing the switch leads flat on the PCB :) The Elf board is only just lower than the switch leads on Cherry MX. One could make a variant of the keytee with the same microcontroller as is used in the Elf board and ge...

From PCBway it would be around 250 USD plus the price of components for 100 assembled boards. It looks like the components would be around 4,5 USD per board, so a total of 7 USD per piece assembled seems like a target that could be hit. http://www.pcbway.com/orderonline.aspx What I really don't get...

Could anyone tell me if this is something I need to fix on my end ? Or is it a problem with the files up on github ? I get the same error on Linux with KiCad 4.0.5. Can confirm for KiCad 4.0.2 on Ubuntu. I'm using PC-BSD/FreeBSD where the KiCad version info looks like "r6904-product"; not sure how ...

I tried uploading pcb.kicad_pcb to osh park and got "we can't build anything with that many layers." Tried opening the project up in kicad and when I tried to look at the circuit board I got the following error: http://i.imgur.com/Us2TA8S.png Could anyone tell me if this is something I need to fix o...

My understanding is that clears are the most tactile "quiet" switch. I have blues at home and clears at work and it does't kill my spirit to switch between the two. Those are the sum of my switch experience though so take it with a grain of salt.

It seems quite high to me. Or is this something which doesn't bother you while typing? I think the smallness of the keyboard and the inset keys might be giving the case a very tall impression. It's the same height as my ergodox, and by extension I would assume about the same height as any number of...

Thanks for all the compliments folks! To Wodan and Ray, concerning the bolts: I have yet to have my typing interfered with. When I first screwed everything together it was a concern, there are thumb positions where they would outright interfere with keypresses, but I very rarely even notice they are...

Hand built steel atreus

I think that this is relatively novel. Built entirely by hand. Small precise cuts were made with a fretsaw, bigger ones with an angle grinder. Fine tuned with a file, and if all else failed, beaten into place with a hammer. It's welded together so technically the switchplate and top cover are all on...

Topic: How many people would like a plate punch?

I love the idea of a plate punch. A hand squeezed tool doesnt sound workable to me, but an arbor press might be able to provide enought force, supposedly your basic harbor freight special can apply a ton of force. A 14mm square would be fine, but that weird shape with the cut out corners would be ev...
