Seems like I'm way to late to get in on this. Is that true? Took a break from DT at the wrong time, I guess.

Excited. I don't know if one more color option is a possibility? User tron did a bunch of color matching for an IBM 3278 in this thread. I think the best match was Prismatic Powders Internal White River.

Re: Why has nobody tried to make a custom case for model f's and beamsprings? (other than that one thread)
Do you really not have a guess or two as to why? Ask Ellipse. You could give it a try yourself and discover some reasons. Maybe you're a talented engineer/designer with bottomless pockets and free time. That'll help... :D  ...because it's expensive and hard and Model F and Beamspring cases are...

Re: Custom Vintage keyboard METAL shell
I'm interested. Want to see some prototypes first, though. I'll admit I'm not super excited about making everything "wider" but I'll try to stay open minded. My beamspring cases are in pretty good nick, but I definitely have an F122 that needs a new shell.

Re: [WTB] Beamspring APL Keycaps
I think eBay is probably the best option. I found a beamspring with a set on eBay before covid kicked off. I was checking multiple times a day at that time though. It wasn't cheap. Good luck. They are some of the best looking caps ever, IMHO.

Re: Whats your tipps on cleaning a metal beam spring case?
Some mild soap and warm water goes a long way. I would avoid any oily products to protect metal. Maybe the tiniest bit on the springs. Just keep it dry in storage. Also a lot of the restoration guides use rust remover products liberally. They're fine on most parts, but I would avoid them on the zinc...

Re: [WTB] NOS SMK 2nd Gen MX Mount Clicky or Linear
I bought some of the clicky white switches recently on AliExpress. I was going to send you the link, but I think maybe I bought the last of them?! They didn't send a complete order, so I asked for a bit of a refund for the missing switches. Not a good sign. There are some linears still, but they're ...

Re: What are your keyboard projects for 2021?
I'd also like to put together a sandblaster station. That'd help on so many levels of keyboarding: bad metal cases, bad mounting plates, de-shiny keys ... Shine on SP SA style caps is great IMHO, on everything else modern it looks bad. I wonder if Signature Plastics would make some SA sets with hig...

Re: What are your keyboard projects for 2021?
I have an IBM 3278, a Model F AT and a Model F122 all in pieces. All three have plates in need some love. I want to get the Beamspring plate redone with new zinc plating. Was close to having it done before the pandemic kicked off, but haven't touched it since. It's not really a do-at-home kind of a ...

Re: [WTT] [US-FL] [H] IBM 3278 tripleshot APL keycaps [W] IBM offers
Do you have a picture that is more color accurate? I have similar set as well that has a couple more yellowed caps. I think APL triple shots are more susceptible to plastic yellowing than standard beamspring caps.

The only option you have left is to convince someone to sell you one of their sets. The group buys are long gone, same with the extras. The person behind the group buys, 7bit, hasn't responded to anyone on Deskthority for a long time, maybe 2 years now I think. Full sets, when they do show up, usual...

I've got a Focus FK-2001 with white Alps in good condition that I'll be selling. It's one of the better layouts for a vintage Alps board in my opinion. Can take some pictures if you're interested.

I'd say go for it. Don't use the gel peroxide, though. Just submerge it in 10% liquid hydrogen peroxide and expose to UV light for a few hours. Should be fine.

Re: SGI "Granite" 9500900 review (Alps SKCM White Dampened)
Although that off-white coloured space bar, would OCD me to death. Would most probably spray it with a plastic paint coating, so as to make it successfully merge with all the PBT coloured key-caps. The space bars on my two were bothering me as well. I was able to retrobrite them in 10% hydrogen per...

Re: WTB - Beamspring Keycaps
I don't want to dash your hopes, but I doubt there are many keycap sets sans keyboard floating around. I could be wrong, but the price would probably be exorbitant if they do exist. Good luck. Edit: I remembered this post showing that Alps SKCC mount caps work well. Might be easier to collect an SKC...

Very cool. So are you going to adjust the design to not use the SMD resistors and fit the bent through hole ones better too? Why were the footprints so small in this design?

Hey, man. Sub-$1000 shipped is unrealistic, unless the condition is poor. If you want one in good condition you're probably gonna have to pay more. The other option is to wait and gamble on eBay. I may have one for sale soon, but it's fully restored and working well. That will add to the price as re...

Re: Looking for a very specific setup
DIY, man. Hotswap, aluminium, 65% with Mac theme caps = custom. I'd look at Rama's M65-B with Oblique caps. Would be super expensive, but his boards are engineered very well. That said, this forum is mostly focused on vintage keyboards. You could try a vintage Mac keyboard like the Apple M0116. ;) h...
