Re: Need Help with a budget Alps Build
Hi there, I second the idea to salvage an AEK 2 ansi. This can be good for a 60% and interesting to make a TKL probably. For the switchs, a very cheap way to have interesting Alps is to use Cream / white dampened from the AEK2, linearized them and use a very thick lube after washing like Superlube. ...

ACK60 3D printed (AEK but compact)
Hello there, 8 months ago I was doin some keyboard projects… and stopped them completly. Burn-out of kb things lol. I just took some time to release one of my project : ACK60% ANSI (AEK… but compact and 3D printed…) My approach is very DIY. I want to do my maximum to achieve home made. This one was ...

Re: New ThinkPad Trackpoint Keyboard II
I read this thread with interest... then I saw the layout in the new keyboard. The nav keys are, shockingly, placed in an even worse manner than is done in 1800-lite layouts. Granted, this thing's layout is not as absurdly stupid as in the new keyboards by Microsoft, but... this thing is inexcusabl...

Re: Alps restoration guide
Ok, A little bit more confusion : Here in France there is another one wich is "3-en-un technique Lubrifiant sec au PTFE". The brand is different but it's manufactured by WD-40 company. This means "3-in-1 technical PTFE dry lube". I personally have very bad result with this. The spray is supposed to ...

I have many alps salmon, cream dampened and white dampened to lube. They are in very bad condition. The AEK with left hand numpad is amazing and I love the caps. I really need to find some. I love Chinese / Japanese / Cyrilic / Arabien AEK caps. At this point all I want is to collect them like pokémon. I don’t know in a country where this is common but if you sell some I am your guy, and I can tra...

For apple board I use cream but only for keycaps. pretty sure there is a difference between keycaps and case / mouse plastic.
Case and mouse always get this marble look but for keycaps it’s perfect.

Re: Alps Appreciation
Salmon were made on 1988 to 1992, Orange from 1987 to 1991 and black alps were also made close to those periods.
Pretty sure it’s different market / specs / internals / price, differents products who don’t cost the same.
Also orange have a different lubrifiant than Salmon.

No because they are locked up by the plate… if there is a plate. But that’s pretty standard stuff.
Think about the people who handwire keyboard with plate but no PCB. That’s completly stable even without PCB. Don’t worry about that.

Did you have tested those springs on alps switchs ?
I have buyed some 55cN and 25 for some tactile dampened white but the 55 are already to light for me. I wonder if there is a real use of less than 50 cN springs.
