keyboard joy doesn't have anything to do w/ DT anymore and he's not the same person as felotus. They're "felotus_" on discord.

Re: Stuff you just bought
I don' think the TA typewriter caps are actually cherry. All the comparison shots I've seen of the undersides indicates they were made on different tooling. They're also slightly smaller as well, with the bottom edge of the cap being ever so slightly shorter than proper cherry caps. regardless they'...

Re: Opinions
So, can you provide a quote proving that a majority of people think Cherry MY isn't bad and thus the article is biased? Otherwise this debate is running in circles. I'll make you a deal, you do some sort of survey on the general opinion of MY and we can cite the survey's findings in the article. Do...

Re: Opinions
Lol, lmao. Citing one person's overdramatic assessment of the feel of a switch is in no way a comment of the common opinion. You'd need a much more thorough statement from a lot larger number of people to make such information relevant to a wiki page. Someone saying "This switch sucks" isn't useful ...

Re: KPT (or possibly clone) comparison
https://i.imgur.com/xVXvx7j.jpeg small update, I now have a larger sampling of different KPT and KPT-like switches and they continue to all be the same thing with only meaningful variation being spring weight. The housings and sliders have a lot of differences, different mold markings, slightly dif...

your machine appears to use KFF, so that makes sense. What the SKCC version has is almost certainly not KFF. It's probably normal SKCC but you never know

This is a bit of a bump and I'm unlikely to get an answer on this, but what sort of LED switches does this use? I'm assuming it uses a normal SKCC Cream LED switch but I would love confirmation.

M-Star appears to be attempting to solve a problem of converting old boards, a problem which is already solved decently and with Vial the problem is solved fantastically well. Instead of trying to solve it fantastically well, or even to solve it decently, M-Star is trying to solve the problem by mak...

I gave it away to the community for free (greed...) and it failed because we couldn't get community volunteers. That's a charitable way to characterize "I left the community, asked other people to do the work of managing it for me, sold that work to the highest bidder and now I only show up when pe...

Re: New Model M vs Old IBM Model M
Admittedly pretty good feeling garbage by design. As compared to, say, Cherry’s active aggression against humanity in the form of the dreaded wet-newspaper keyfeel of Cherry MY . ;) Quite why they ever lavished any of those miserable switches with their delicious dyesubs is entirely beyond me. gen ...

Re: Datanetics Rev B Replica keyboard for an Apple-1 replica computer
unfortunately getting a hold of anything from Datanetics is difficult. Every account I've read from the early 80s talks about how DC50 was desirable but was basically already end of life, both Krown and Apple held this position and were already searching for replacements to DC50 even as they were ac...

Re: Tescomate 55 [silver reed DWS]
Searching for a Silver Reed version of this machine continues, I've ruled out EXD15 as a possible model number as that machine is completely different in every way and uses pre-DIN switches. EXD might have been the "portable" line alongside the EX line of non portable machines? EXD10 being their tin...

Re: Simplified Alps Type III or SAT3
They sound more like pines than bamboo because they essentially are pines. Personally I'm pretty sure the sound difference isn't related to the slits at all but rather related to the changes in plastics the housings used. The slits just happen to coincide (at least to some degree, I'm sure outliers ...

Simplified Alps Type III or SAT3
With the help of a fellow on discord I was able to get a hold of some NOS Simplified Alps Type III , which I'll refer to as SAT3 going forward since it's way easier to type. I've been interested in these switches for a while in part because everyone who has taken pictures of them has done an incompl...

Re: Tescomate 55 [silver reed DWS]
Speaking more broadly about Silver Reed dome switches, I think I should lay out the naming convention I have for them since that makes talking about them easier. Currently I am aware of 4 types, 5 if we count the slightly smaller sliders that the R5 caps on this machine use. I don't think the smalle...

Tescomate 55 [silver reed DWS]
Another day another Silver Reed find, this time one that appears to be a rebrand. I say "appears" because I can't actually find a silver reed version of this machine. from the PCB inside is appears to be related to the EXD10 but while those are very similar, with the chassis being essentially identi...
