My Alps64 with orange SKCM is disappointing
My quest for the "perfect" typing experience led me through various types of switches and keyboards, starting with MX, then moving to Topre, then buckling spring, and finally, the holy grail according to many, Alps SKCM orange. I harvested them from a clean AEKII and did lube them with whatever was ...

Re: Need help with new Model F keyboard
Chiming in here because I was able to flash my F62 using QMK (with help from @pandrew and @tentator) successfully last summer on a Mac using xwhatsit's beta firmware + QMK Configurator, the ibm capsense util to enter into bootloader, and QMK Toolbox to flash. I did have that issue of the util detect...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
@swedishpiehole: Strange dying result with that Right Shift key. Did you wash the keys before dying them? Does RIT recommend any surface treatments before dying? I did wash the keys, even though they were practically new. Clearly there is a mix of some kind of plastic in that one key that does NOT ...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
I got my F62 a couple of weeks ago and after a rough patch of trying to adjust a few stubborn springs, and struggling to figure out how to flash it with QMK, here I am with a dope ass keyboard! Only catch is that the keycaps won't be ready until later in the year, so I'm making do with some blanks I...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
pandrew, I just finished editing my above post when I saw yours, and you were absolutely right. I had to kc_trans all of the blank keys and now it's fine. I don't see how to check my PMs on Discord. I feel like I looked everywhere so I must be stupid! EDIT: I fixed everything. As I suspected, the sl...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
I tested key repeating after flashing QMK and got some interesting results. Delete, backspace, enter, tab, and all punctuation keys repeat infinitely when held down. The number keys do not, unless I hold down shift before pressing, in which case I can get, for example, $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ or ^^^^^...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Hi pandrew, I logged into Discord and posted a message to you and tentator. Not sure if I did it right, as I've barely used Discord before. I'm having not only the inconsistent key press issues, but something far more serious: layer keys don't work right at all. I have mapped keys to LT1 and LT2 (s...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
^ It does autorepeat on all keys? Actually my keyboard has started behaving erratically since I flashed QMK. A couple of times no matter what key I pressed, it changed the volume of my Mac. And then the whole keeb went unresponsive until I unplugged and replugged. Also, one of the keys that had been...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Also, a way to see it is by forcefully pressing the key and holding. For me, I press and hold the "o" and it doesn't repeat, because it will not actuate until I release. When I release the key, it produces a single "o". I tried adjusting the voltage, reseating the spring, replacing the spring, usin...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Hi Swedishpiehole, there is absolutely no difference in flashing the F62/77 with QMK than flashing any other QMK compatible board.. it's basically natively supported! So you can even chose to flash from avrdude via commandline, use for instance "sudo make xwhatsit/ibm/3276_3278/xwhatsit_beamspring_...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
Hi everyone! My new Kishsaver is out for delivery and after waiting 2+ years I am excited like a kid at Christmas. It is coming to me without the printed keys I ordered, as they are not yet ready, but luckily I have a set of blanks that I bought a while ago intending to make my own legends for (neve...

Re: Help! Retrobrite fail on Apple keyboard
Thanks everyone, some great ideas here. I'll give the 10% hydrogen peroxide a try, if I can find enough for a reasonable price. At this point, I can't tell if the light bits are lighter than the keycaps or not, but I'd rather have an even color that's too light than this crappy look.

Help! Retrobrite fail on Apple keyboard
Hi all. Last summer I tried to retrobrite an old Apple keyboard and the results were pretty disastrous. I tried a lot of different techniques but was never able to get an even result. After getting splotches from using Sarah wrap, I bought 2 gallons of 40 vol clear developer and left it submerged in...

Re: Review: Bluetooth Adapter for Keyboard & Mouse (BT-500) by Handheld Scientific
Comprehensive review! I bought one a while back but quickly realized that it was just too cumbersome to be useful. Short of needing to use BT with a device that doesn't have a USB port, I can't see much of a use for it. If only they made a version with an integrated battery in a compact, minimalist ...

WTB: 4.75u space bar
I've searched high and low for a 4.75u space bar for a Niz Atom66 to go with any of my various keysets. The stock space bar has an ugly Niz logo on it and doesn't go with any of my keysets. I know this is a long shot, as this is just a nonexistent size for a spacebar. But if anyone has tips on where...

Re: Finally coming out of the plum66 EC BT keyboard 35g RGB
What kind of sick bastard decides to put Fn-keys next to space bar? And on both sides? Please. Actually, the left FN and the right FN work like two different layers in the programming software, depending on which one you press, you access a whole different layer that you can customize. You can also...

Re: Finally coming out of the plum66 EC BT keyboard 35g RGB
Hi there, I have the new 2019 Atom66 (with updated EC switches) about to be delivered and I'm excited because it's my birthday woo hoo. Anyway, I'm planning on using my own keycaps on it, but damn, that 4.75u space bar. Defeats the purpose of MX compatible switches if nobody makes a space bar in tha...

Stepping in here because I preordered an F62 that I can't wait to get. Sorry for the noob question, but what is a solenoid? Edit: OK I poked around and found that it's to enhance the key sounds. I also found this post from Ellipse that says a solenoid can be added to his new Model Fs: https://www.mo...
