I asked a friend to bring any keyboard from his Tokyo trip.
Well, one piece more for the collection, I guess I never will bring it back to service.
Any idea, what this one was made for? Thank you for infos, cheers

Re: u/t4teeee) (My) IBM Model M (+Unicomp) Bolt Mod And Restoration Service
It is a fair offer, no question, but what is the use case? I can only speak for myself: I have two Ms, some rivets missing. They are working fine, maybe I put some screws in one day.. NO need for a screw mod. It will perform better, last longer after cleaning - Who cares? I got one out of the bin. I...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
Today I was there again. Sorry, no Terminal, but I found a mouse. HP46060B, looks like a WW1 tank.
FLS? Final landig service?
Additionally I grabbed a TA Gabriele 9009.
Connecting to mains did not result in any sign of life.
Harvest or restore?

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
I found a Model M 1391403 at the communal recycling center. Could not believe this happens to me in 2021 - Olé Three keycaps missing. Well, the controller is ok (shortened some contacts in the plugs), but none of the keys register. Hmm, lots of work. Why interesting? The board is 1990 Greenock produ...

Ok, I put it on sale now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334207752457?hash=item4dd0559909:g:zj0AAOSwa8VhhTCE as mentioned here: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10405&start=3510 I guess, there is only one person on earth who is interested in this board, and I got a fair offer. But suddenly I go...

Asparagus, best with AEK II
Cook the asparagus (better with the green ones, but white is ok) than roll in breakfast bacon, stir-fry, add egg salt and pepper.

Thank you for inspiration. Today I got the dough right for the first time. Only 15 g of fresh yeast for 500 g flour, 250 ml water, 2 tablespoons olive oil, salt, some sugar. Resting for 12 hrs. But my oven is too small and heat comes mostly from above. Still sufficient space for improvement.. I thin...

Wüsthofs are great - one of only two big forges still producing in Germany. This would open a new thread, but as one cannot cook without a knife in most case I leave a comment here. A file is a bit harsh but at least you do not overheat the edge as you can do with belt-sanders or a flex grinder. Giv...

Brilliant and satisfactorily exhaustive as always, especially the click on release fix was very helpful - thank you so much. I'm just wondering why you did not mention the possibility to clean the contacts directly when the switch does not register any more, not just with compressed air but e.g. mov...

Re: The Deskthority Cooking Thread
I got this one just today. Had to take some photographs as I guess it is not stainless and will change its looks soon. A colleague of mine got it from Tokyo for me. I explicitly ordered a traditional model and, as he told me, the shopkeeper pretended asking: why this one? Waiting for it for six week...

Welcome to the forum, Just today I was curious about this board I rescued from the bin some time ago. Different branding, but obviously the same machine. Carlo Erba MOD. 4400 Integrator. Year code on the board is 89. 4. 22 some letters have faded ("F" and the "AUTO" in "AUTO ZERO"), it looks like a ...

cherry mx 65g springs
I want to spring-mod my G80-3000 HAU just a bit lighter as it is completely useless for me at the moment. (Ok for inducing carpal tunnel syndrome and regressing fine motor skills)
I think the 65g will be my way to go.
Any hints? Not willing to pay $20.- shipping costs for a $10.- lot..
Thanks

Well-thumbed KB-101A. I was thinking about dropping by - I never had blue Alps under my wrists. But honestly - maybe I just try to forget about it. The contacts corrode and loose conductivity completely
do it two or three times with low force. test before re-assembling.
If I had this blues, I would take my time. I do not have a very good feel about using contact cleaner,
good luck cheers

Re: Stuff you just bought
I got a Cherry G80-3000HFD from the chunk box, serial 043893 - is it 1993? It is my first MX-blue board. As I have some clones, razer green and outemu blue, this is really different from what I expected. The keyfeel and sound is completely different and rather reminds me on the ALPS SKCM orange or w...

Who still uses it as daily driver? Why/why not? Re: romer g, cherr mx or razer switches?
I have got a Razer Tournament 2014 and an Ultimate 2014. Their switches (yes - both green) feel totally different. On the Ultimate (Kailh?) they are very smooth and need a lot more actuation force. Some of them remind me on my vintage MX blacks somehow, just with a click. Very inconsistent all over ...

Mother of all recent keyboards, you are just perfect as you are. All the others will be judged by your standards, and modifying you will be seen as sacrilege. Is this the reason for (subjectively felt) thin reception on DT? Or is it, because if you once start, you will look for even fancier stuff (l...
