That’s certainly a lot of blue. I like blue, but not in such volumes. All grey and black caps, maybe? It’s certainly very striking - and great that there are so many options. Are the spacebars on these reproductions well weighted, unlike the monstrous XT original?
russypt that is good news; glad it is holding up as a daily driver. How has the sound of the springs and typing changed over the year, if at all? Are things even smoother now or not to a noticeable degree?
I'd say the sound is identical to day 1. I run it next to my 1986 (I think) restored Model ...
Time really flies. I've been using my F62 Compact and F77 Classic for over a year now. Both working great, particularly the F77 which serves as a daily driver for development. The coating is still holding up great on the F77, I may Cerakote it later if it starts to get iffy.
Am I the only one who understood the deadlines, after being pushed back to account for delays (which were extensively documented and photographed), were thereafter basically synchronized against rounds of production so Ellipse could tell the factory what to make? Maybe I am just filling in the ...
I judge every product for myself, just interested in LGR's opinion. My F77 has been banging out code beautifully for going on a year and that's somewhat function key heavy. You just have to get used to it, same as people have to get used to those 65% keyboards. I use some Hudson HiFi feet/boosters ...
I wonder if they still have the set props and digital effects setup from that segment. That video has 4.3M+ views, and was itself made because of an offhand comment about the Model M catching so much attention.
If Linus still has his tan suit, he should totally do it.
When my two keyboards finally arrived, my gf threw away the boxes that same night, which the garbage truck immediately picked up. At first I was pretty unhappy about that, but just like the originals, these are meant to be driven. I am not worried about what they will go for in 15-30 years or even 2 ...
I'm really quite enjoying everything I've bought from Ellipse so far and don't feel ripped off over any of it. Sad to have to use phpBB's ignore list for the first time, but here we are. Sounds like I'm going to miss out on some sweet links to available $400 NIB SSKs. Maybe I can even negotiate them ...
I am using a KVM built into the Dell U3219Q with the standard firmware on both a F77 and F62. I estimate that I switch the KVM about 30-40 times a day. I've never had it fail to reinitialize so far.
edit: Side note, when I put my Industrial Gray Model M and Industrial Gray F77 next to each other ...
Sorry I haven't been able to provide a nice detailed review. The fact I've been using my F77 to do all the day job development work that's kept me away from the forum can be taken as a positive review in itself though.
I got my F77 Industrial Gray and F62 Compact in Black last week. The shipment endured some rough handling that ripped the packaging up, so I wasn't surprised to have to replace a spring on the F62 and rotate the springs on "2" and "3", but all is working well now. The F77 box was kind of protected ...
Would be lovely to see future rounds have a more durable coating for these reproductions. It's a shame for everyone who's gotten in to the first round to have to deal with these problems.
May hit it with a non-toxic clear coat before it wears. If not, I can get the case locally powder coated ...
Passing the time for my dye-sub F77, I refurbished an AT with bad foam, and would have bought the premade layer if I knew about it. If it had a glue joining line in it, who cares, that's functional, and in many cases, factory. I wouldn't even have thought of asking for a replacement. Imagine an ...
I purchased the low serial option with printed caps, but I support shipping others first if they don't need the caps. Maybe they are trying to do reviews for YouTube, etc, and could get more people interested in the final run. This could improve the economies of scale for ellipse and contribute to ...
