I can get 8 pin Mini Din plugs and sockets easily enough, so I'll make up a dedicated cable is needed.
Thanks though.

That's not PS/2 (6 pin mini-DIN), the LPFK uses 8 pin mini-DIN. See this link for a better image of the pins. http://www.ebay.com/itm/6247480-IBM-Attachment-Cable-for-6094-/320558629441 These in black look better to my eye. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-IBM-6094-020-08L1196-Lighted-Programmable-Func...

Capacity is not an issue. The Lithium-Ion cells I use are Samsung ICR-18650A's, 3.75v nominal, 2,800mAH. I have, quite literally, hundreds of them. I may even put a small balance charger inside if I can find the room. I plan on using 2 with the low dropout version of a 7805 (2940?). However, until I...

I'll re-read your post later, (about to leave for work), but that looks awesome. Thanks for posting. EDIT:- Thanks for your post, and the links. I'll try again with the thinkpad (Running Zorin Linux), and your examples. Hopefully with some decent source, and a real port, I can make it work without r...

I've tried to get it going using serial, but failed miserably. I've had it for a few years now, and not got anywhere. It may be that it hates both of the USB==>Serial "converters" I have, and wants a real serial port. As I understand it, they just Emulate RS232, rather than provide afull functionali...

IBM LPFK & Arduino Nano.
I am just wondering about the feasibility of using an Arduino Nano (Clone) to control an IBM LPFK. My initial concern (Apart from my coding), is that I will need something with more I/O. 32 keys and 32 lights. I do have a Mega R3 sitting here, but I can't see that sitting inside the case happily. Do...

Yeah, I thought I was bad with 40 or so tabs. With regard to the screens, I use Dell 2001FP's, which sound like they use the same panel as your LG/HP monitors. 1600x1200 is indeed a very nice resolution. VGA, DVI, Composite (PiP), and S-Video inputs, and a 4 port powered hub. It may give you another...
I have indeed (and it's the only reason I know the protocol). I suspect it's because it wants a true serial port, rather than a USB emulated one, and I don't have a real one kicking around any more. I will put an Arduino/ATMega328 on there at some point. If I do get it to work, it will be open sourc...
A recent several-hour, multi searchengine session revealed nothing new either. I know the protocol, but that is not helping any. I think I'll have to go down the Microcontroller/Arduino route. Nothing happening until after Xmas though, but thanks for the input. I'll be sure to post up video of it's ...
IBM LPFK
A few years ago, I had an IBM LPFK from Webwit. I've never succeeded in getting it to work though. Has anyone had any success with them? I'd love to get it going, probably as a "media" (Play, stop, ffwd etc) keypad alongside my M13. I did debate striping it down, and mapping out the matrix, and putt...

First up was a Model M, and I used it for ~15 years. A second was acquired as the first developed issues. A chance acquirement of a Wang 724 led me down the road to my current set (NOT a collection... I use them!). 2x 1391406, M13, Model F AT, Boscom 122, Wang 724, AT102W, TVS Gold, G80-3000, 2x Che...

Ripster - I don't need storage space for the boards, but I do need 2 to be ready to go, and I have room on my desk for this. However, I don't want both "active" at the same time. If it doesn't pan out, this is what I plan on doing. Captain - I'm not sure a pre-made PS/2 switch exists, or at least e...

Planning - PS/2 switch
So, I want to have an "Otaku" M13 board to accelerate learning touch-typing, and am ordering the caps from Unicomp in a week or two. The problem with that is my Other Half says no on the grounds that she does not touch-type, and my Daughter is just learning to use a keyboard. Fair enough. My solutio...

The concern is not making cash, however, cash vs how much I like the board will help me to decide what stays. I love the M13, so it would need to be a fair bit for me to part with it. Much as I like the AT Model F, I'm hesitant to Mod it into a more usable layout. I'm currently typing on the 102, an...
