Re: HHKB Pro Hybrid, Delete key, DIP switch
Yes, I was able to fix this using the remapping tool. It's a bit confusing at first. The top half of the screen lets you choose a keystroke (I clicked on Fn then on Delete) and the bottom half chooses what to bind it to. If you switch the bottom half to "Alphabetical order" then you can see a Del ...

Re: HHKB Pro Hybrid, Delete key, DIP switch
Ah, apparently there's an official remap tool: https://happyhackingkb.com/manual/studi ... ptool.html
Can that be used to get what I want?

HHKB Pro Hybrid, Delete key, DIP switch
At home I use a New Model F 62 with HHKB layout. This has a Backspace key (to delete the previous character) located above the Enter key. Pressing Fn-Backspace gives Delete (to delete the following character).

Spanish layout IBM boards (beam spring?) in Valencia
At the "Dalí Cibernético" exhibition in Valencia, alongside some reproductions of Salvador Dalí's paintings and AI-generated animations based on his work, there was some old IBM kit on display. The keyboards are beam springs, I think? They have an older Spanish layout with the Ñ character but no Ç ...

Re: Source for two-piece Model M keycaps?
Thanks. I did check clickykeyboards.com too but their catalogue doesn't specifically say two-piece or one-piece. I'll need to ask them directly.
I'm hoping to just replace a handful of keys on the board, rather than the whole set. I was going to say that an exact match with the style of the ...

Re: Eclipse F62 - technique for replacing spring
Yes, I always attach the key with the keyboard vertical, space bar uppermost. That wasn't enough to get it well attached and clicking, if the spring wasn't firmly attached to the flipper. Once I worked out how to push the spring down hard onto its nubbin (without damaging the spring, as I had in ...

Re: Source for two-piece Model M keycaps?
Thanks for the reply. I don't want Spanish keycaps, but "ordinary" ones (meaning US or US-International layout, or others closely related to it). Unicomp no longer manufacture two-piece caps, as I understand it. I've not had any luck searching for specifically two-piece ones on Ebay.

Source for two-piece Model M keycaps?
I have a Model M in Spanish layout. To fully change it to UK or US International layout I'd need to replace about thirty keycaps, but I could make do with fewer. (I don't mind if Num Lock says Bloq Num instead, but it's annoying to have the wrong punctuation characters in the number row.)

Re: Eclipse F62 - technique for replacing spring
Thanks all for your advice. I have managed in the end to replace the spring and reattach the Fn key. One thing I got wrong initially was whether to twist or screw the spring into place, or just press it. The manual says that remove a spring you should turn it gently to "unscrew" it, not just pull it ...

Eclipse F62 - technique for replacing spring
I have a New Model F in 62-key layout. When I received it a few keys didn't work reliably or chattered but I have mostly resolved these issues. In one case I removed the existing spring and put in a new one (I have a few spare springs and flippers). I used the technique from the video where you ...

Re: ALPS/ALPS-like switch weaknesses
Thanks, I might try that technique on my Monterey switches, although I don't believe dust is the problem there; they seem to have just worn out through use. I think I junked the Dell AT101 in the end. I'm really a buckling spring guy, but in 2020 was stuck at my parents' house without a keyboard ...

Re: Ellipse Model F62 only rarely comes alive
Thanks for the info. To fully resolve this question I'd need to update my keyboard to the latest controller (I assume it has an older controller, having been made in May 2021) and then retest the various cables. If one day I should happen to buy another New Model F, I will revisit this. For the ...

Re: Ellipse Model F62 only rarely comes alive
Thanks for getting in touch, Ellipse. My question at the moment is not "how can I use the keyboard with a USB-C laptop" -- as you note, it is possible to use an adaptor. Rather, I wanted to reproduce the issue and narrow it down. I don't believe that it is limited to smart cables or USB hubs.

Re: Ellipse Model F62 only rarely comes alive
Thanks. I believe with the right C-to-A adaptor the board will work. It's ugly, though, that you have to use the C-to-A cable and then the opposite adaptor.

Re: ALPS/ALPS-like switch weaknesses
Hi, I know this is an old thread, but as we are talking about old keyboards too I would like to add something. I've also found, anecdotally, that ALPS switches do not age well (certainly not compared to buckling springs). A Dell AT101 was unusable after twenty years on a shelf, while most of the ...

Re: Ellipse Model F62 only rarely comes alive
Hi, I discovered the same thing -- connecting the F62 to my laptop using a USB-C data cable did not work but to a desktop with USB-C to USB-A is fine. What are the options, then, for connecting it to a device that only has USB-C support? Can I use the USB-C to USB-A cable together with an adaptor ...
