Re: Good Case Acoustics for Alps Boards?
@newtype: If you are building a custom Alps TKL, are you also building the case, or do you have sources in mind for TKL cases? The options for TKL are sparse, there appears to be the super high-end solutions like Duck, one CNC aluminum case on aliexpress for ~$100 and the cheapo plastic case that s...

Good Case Acoustics for Alps Boards?
I want to build a TKL and from listening to Taeha's custom builds I think metal cases often engender a 'tinny' sound which imo kinda ruins some of the acoustics. The problem seemed especially bad with brown alps with the orange being less awful. Wood is okay but kinda steampunk-y does the plate (con...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
I'm new to the prospecting so probably overreacting to a general trend, but I really need another IBM and this is torture to watch.

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
Asked the > $1000 IBM 5140 seller if they would take less (like an 80% discount lol) and they said they refuse to go lower. What the hell is wrong with some of these people. Disgusting greedy cunts who need to get the fuck away from our hobby It is awfully unscrupulous but what can you do (besides ...

Using SKCL Compacts in an LFKeyboard PCB?
I'm waiting on a 5140 to arrive by mail and rather than try to source an extra Ctrl key for a symmetrical 60% build I was considering incorporating the compact keys into one of the LF PCBs. Here's the unique layout of the 5140: https://i.imgur.com/pUaD5xr.jpg And here's an example build of the LF78 ...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
Sweet! How are the caps on those? They are somewhat rare Alps PBT so I think I will reuse them in my build after cleaning them. I absolutely need a Fn key tho and will be purchasing a ABS variant for it. Here's the listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/UNTESTED-IBM-PC-Convertible-5140-/174311944986?_tr...

Re: Great/Interesting Finds
Won a bid I wasn't really expecting to get its for an untested IBM PC 5140 with the brown ALPS. $175 was the winning bid which isn't a fantastic deal or anything just hoping the switches are in decent condition as I want to build a 60% - that said I'm a few switches short if anyone has spare browns ...

[WTB-US] NoS Alps Whites
If anyone wants to part with the NoS whites from the two recent group buys, I would be extremely grateful. Also interested in oranges, salmons and browns, but without a NoS/Good Condition baseline am somewhat reluctant to deep dive, though accepting PMs for these as well (boards and switches). Need ...
