I haven't had much luck finding where the breakdown is happening. It's a bit trickier for me to understand because now it's a matter of understanding how the computer is communicating to the keyboard and not the other way around.
Since all keys seem to register just fine in the tester, I figure ...

Is there a stupid easy mistake (like spacebar stabilizers with F XTs) that I'd likely make as a first time beamspring cleaner?darkcruix wrote: 25 Jun 2021, 23:55 Cleaning and restoring on those keyboards is something you should consider.

Re: New 5251 owner; some keys not working
I checked the "util" (using the one that came with my new F77 qmk firmware) and they do not change if I press a key individually.
Isopropyl alcohol I already have for my various model Ms. Thanks for the foam link. I will need a 15mm stamp, right?

New 5251 owner; some keys not working
I am a proud new owner of a 5251 beamspring keyboard.
Unfortunately, the key e doesn't register, and 5,6, t,y, g,h and b,n only register if pressed at the same time (5 and 6 together that is). I checked the capsense utility and the levels only change when the keys are pressed two at a time.

Re: Need help with new Model F keyboard
I opened the pcb assembly, cleaned stuff and now its working fine.
Seems to me you're far from the first to say this regarding the (otherwise phenomenal) new model f.
Usually it comes down to the electrical tape on the controller being pierced and shorting, though.
In retrospect, wiggling ...

Not entirely convinced by the way the thing is opened.

Thanks! Yes, repeated key strokes only go from 124 to 128. I'll investigate.

Re: Need help with new Model F keyboard
Hi,
I am running pandrew's qmk on my ultra compact new f77. The '0' key does not register if I repeatedly push it in quick succession, single keypresses are fine 95% of the time. Reseated the keycap and wiggled the spring already. Is this likely a calibration/ software issue or should I get out my ...

Re: Buckling spring corne?
In Linux, kmonad could be an option, although it needs to be changed to work with two inputs. If I really get to do this, I would prefer the two-controller-trrs approach though.

Re: Buckling spring corne?
This is a corne - https://github.com/foostan/crkbd - it works with two serial connected pro micros of which one is the main connected via usb and the other one is the not-main one connected via TRRS cable. For keymaps and combos, it is one keyboard.

Re: Buckling spring corne?
I think a flat plate would be the way to go. Given that the wcass controller boards seem to support qmk just fine, that would be my choice there.

Hi,
with the model f flippers and barrels now available for 1$ each... What would one need for a buckling spring corne?
Barrels - check
Springs and flippers - check
Plate - corne shaped, to be designed
PCB with capacitor pads, corne shaped, tbd
Controller for each side, tbd

it arrived in Germany yesterday (and is now stuck in Customs Clearance) 😃
I was lucky to have read up on this - when I got mine, right before paying the import tax, the clerk asked if I am going to connect it to my PC. "Of course I don't! It's for display!" "Ausstellungsstück". That way, they ...
