Re: my IBM 5155 keyboard with integrated macro deck screen
…so I put a keyboard in your keyboard!
It's nice to see it done. Right enough, that exposed cable store would invite me to repurpose the space as well. Glad to hear Soarer's got you covered.
Thanks!
I think that it looked really good with the coiled cable inside, but once you remove it ...

my IBM 5155 keyboard with integrated macro deck screen
Hi guys. It's been a while since I last posted here, but I would like to show you how my project went.
About a year ago, I purchased an IBM 5155 (the portable computer) keyboard. I wanted to make a soarers converter for it and get it to work, but I lacked some info on the pin-out of the connector ...

80 WPM in English
74 WPM in Finnish
Both typed at work with a shitty low profile rubber dome piece of shit.
Some vowel and consonant combinations in Finnish are considerably tricky, for example the word 'jäkälä', which you'll have to type with your right hand only and only using home row keys ...

I had a krom kernel TKL that was pretty ok, it had no Cherry original but Outemu (I dont know if its a deal breaker for you) and the RGB was solid and well executed for such a cheap board (I paid 40€). It was my first mechanical keyboard and I gave it to my friend so its his first one as well.

If it really is the desk height that is too tall, grab a hacksaw and chop them legs. I have done it. does it have metal or wood legs? Not a fan of trays. Have also used risers to good effect.

I ordered a few keys from Unicomp and now both my model M and model F are completed. I put a couple accent blue keycaps (including the PANIC buttons for the esc keys).

Re: [FREE-EU] Rack/Tray mount keyboard-mouse combination
Neat, the touchpad location seems much more usable than Cherry's 11800 or 11900 (which were similarly based on the 1800 layout). It reminds me of this monster I've been working on (which came missing the rails and still need a serial converter for the ball, but someday it will be the meatiest 1800 ...
