1. Get a vintage Alps-compatible keyboard with Windows keys (late Focus FK-2001, Omnikey-101P, 102P, or Ultra-TP, Avant Prime, Avant Stellar, Dell AT101W), which will probably come with simplified Alps or Alps clones, and transplant blue Alps and good keycaps (most, but not all, of these boards ...

Well it is worth to note that blue itself went through multiple changes as well so there are different versions of skcm blue.

Oh you want the homing bars on f and j.
Yeah there are keycaps that would give you all kind of homing options. But color matching would be a bit tough

Re: Noob question re G80-1800
When you swap PCBs in a G81 for one that used MX switches usually all you're keeping is the case and keycaps.
Later MY boards use keycaps that have built in stabilizers and won't work with MX stabilizers.
As for PCBs there are many options out there but personally I think the E80-1800 is the best ...

Re: Noob question re G80-1800
Hello everybody,
while I am not really "in the hobby", I do have a mechanical G80-1800 with vintage MX blacks which I like very much.
Case and keycaps have certainly seen better days, and the cable also looks about as old as it is, but I do very much like to type on it.
I can get a like-new G81 ...

Re: Return to office
I bring a modern custom to work. Just a cheap one, nothing fancy, I never spent much on modern custom anyways.
The reason being that I can part with it for 5 days a week and I dont really care that much. And it looks normal enough no one would start small talks over the keyboard.

That is some juicy translation. Thank you. Now seeing that the keyboard is mechanical (very high chance that it is also skcm white or maybe better), it gives me lots of ideas. The result is a goofy hybrid of old interest and forced ...

I think no cherry branding because someone bought the switches and the caps off cherry and manufactured this keyboard themselves. Idk, including a plate is not really a Cherry thing.
