Have true regular mini-mech typists actually been spotted in the wild? Or are they more of a hypothetical species?

The main attitude I want to convey is that due to their complexity, beam spring keyboards will always be an enthusiast project, not a set it and forget it type of keyboard.

* When you say intermittently, is it completely random or fixable by e.g. unplugging the keyboard, leaving it for a bit, and then plugging it in again?
* Do they always work if you e.g. press hard?

For what it's worth, after two years of use, my New Model F may still be the best keyboard I own , all things considered. And I own a few :D Or at least in a shared 1st place with only a few other boards.

Sometime later, their reputation improved as someone claimed if you lube them just right they come to life with aplomb. Hmm. Consider me skeptical.

I actually bought a board with Mitsumi minimechs that had been lubed in that particular way. Let me tell you, the binding was awful. So in this ...

I recently QMK-converted a wheelwriter, but it actually still functions as a typewriter as well! Something about playing Quake on a typewriter seemed like a good idea at the time.

Did you get around to "converting" the Triumph Adler SE505 by the way?

In TMK/QMK ADB converters, that key behaves just like any other. I have it mapped to open a calculator, for instance. Murium just gave one example use for it.

Hiding it in the case is, in a sense, even easier :P Then all you need is a pro micro (or teensy or RP2040 or ... ), a few stumps of wire and a soldering iron and you'll have TMK, QMK or Soarer's up and running in no time.

(May be wise to also buy a few 1-2kOhm resistors, although you probably won ...
