Don't think I'm going to risk alienating my iPad for now. Maybe down the road. I'd love to have an HHKB for it. Gilgam, could you expound on how you got it to work?

Thanks for all the advice, guys!

best keys for noppoo choc?

Finally getting a Noppoo Choc Mini for my on-the-go mech keyboard. Any recommendations on what type of keys to get it with? I play some RTS games (Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3) but also do lots of school work on it. Thinking Cherry Browns but also maybe something linear this time, like Red or Black. T...

Dude, I saw this on Youtube, Mrinterface! I guess my main concern is that my iPad is a 2, not a 3. Also, I'm really wary about "tricking" or "fooling" the iPad into thinking the keyboard is legit if it's not. Isn't there a mechanical keyboard that caters specifically to tablets and the iPad in parti...

mechanical keyboard for ipad?

So, I recently got Final Draft for the iPad, which now has me interested in finding a mechanical keyboard that works with the iPad (2) without having to jailbreak it. I've seen some bluetooth mechanical keyboards, namely from xArmor but I'm not sure if they're compatible with an iPad or if they're a...

Aw, thanks anyway, cactux. Where are you from and how do you have an extra DAS box (presumably in good condition)?

keyboard boxes

As keyboard enthusiasts, I was wondering how much value you guys place on preserving the quality of the box or case the keyboard comes in. One of my regrets is that when I opened my DAS, I just tore the box open. Now, I wish I had kept it intact so that in case I want to switch out, I can save it in...

@Icarium: I like the nozzle from the vacuum cleaner idea. I wonder if you can use the brush heads that come with electric shavers. I have one that I don't use.

keyboard maintenance

Newbie question: I've been using a DAS Pro S for the past three months or so and so far, I've been using this black cloth that came with the unit to clean it of dust and lint. I'm wondering if any of you have suggestions/advice about how else I can keep my keyboard clean and functional. Is there a c...

@levitha, grave00: I was hoping to spend around $100 without shipping. I did see the Filco on Amazon and actually added it to my cart already. :D I guess I'm a bit put off by comments that it's more beige than white. Still looking at other alternatives but I could press "Order" at any moment. ;)

@grave00: Eerie. It's really such a fascinating (addictive) new hobby. The Filco is on my list (a Black, though), mostly because it's relatively easy to acquire one locally in the US. I'd like to try an ALPS at some point as well (maybe a Matias?). Good to know about the WASD, but I think the tenkey...

I guess I should clarify that I'm not really interested in mechanical gaming keyboards, which is what they have at the nearest Fry's. I didn't know about Micro Center in OC and would be willing to go there but their website shows they sell mostly gaming keyboards as well (Razer, Steelseries).

linear vs tactile

I've decided to live on the edge and try linear type switches for my next keyboard (compact). That changes some of the keyboards I was looking at. Any recommendations for a great linear board?

Already checked local tech shops. No luck. I think I'm going to order a KBC Poker through a friend in Singapore, though. It comes out cheaper (provided I can find someone to bring it over and save on shipping).

any brick and mortar keyboard stores?

I'm relatively new to the keyboard enthusiast culture and my biggest gripe whenever I'm researching a new keyboard is that I only have written reviews and user videos to base my opinion on. Obviously, one of the main factors--if not the main factor-- that goes into making a new purchase is direct co...

So, no Pokers available right now, which made me consider keyboards that were easily purchasable like the Leopoldo tenkeyless. I kinda dig it. Thinking about Cherry Browns, if so. Any feedback, guys? Filco is another big seller that is easy to find, but I get the impression it's too similar to my DA...

Does anyone know if aliexpress is legit? I checked qtang's store and he doesn't seem to have Pokers. Anyone know where I can buy a Poker (new)?

Cheers.

@codehead: Reading it now. Interesting. I actually read reviews comparing the Nippoo to the Poker and the Poker came out slightly ahead, as I recall. I'm not sure what POM keys are, but from the pics you've posted, it's the type of keys I've seen and tried before (without knowing what they were call...

I guess I'm looking at about a $100 or so, longweight. I just looked at the G84-4100 (never heard of it until you mentioned it, RC). It looks really good, but you're right--I think ML switches are too shallow for my liking. Four votes for the Poker. I think we have a winner. Thanks, George, longweig...

best portable/compact mechanical keyboard?

Hi all, I'm a recent convert to mechanical keyboards, having purchased a DAS Pro S, as my dekstop keyboard. However, I tend to travel around with a netbook a lot and after my switch to the DAS, I can't stand my netbook's keys anymore. :( I am thinking of buying a second, smaller mechanical keyboard ...
