I didn't give it much importance though, as the keyboard is connected to a powered USB hub, so I can't be 100% sure it's the keyboard's fault.

If you get the HHKB layout you can use FN + [ - ; - ' - / (up - left - right - down) for arrow keys.

You mean the arrow cluster? Those are just a bad graphic work to show how I configured them, in reality all my modifiers are grey/blanks.

If you mean the other white alpha/number keys, they're 2 pieces keycaps taken from an ISO Model M SSK (aka UNI04C6).

I tested key repeating after flashing QMK and got some interesting results. Delete, backspace, enter, tab, and all punctuation keys repeat infinitely when held down. With the stock hhkb-layout firmware the volume controls should already be configured:
fn+a -> volume down
fn+s -> volume up
fn+d -> mute
