Very nice.
Thanks for posting some photo's. I will have to open mine up one of these days and compare.
Need to check to see what the rivet condition is anyways. Typing feels good so I don't expect to be missing much.

One day apart. That's awesome.
I have a feeling this part number had a very short run seeing we only know of two so far.
Thanks for sharing.

Dropped long ago. What was strange is this board was purchased new just few years back from Unicomp and came with a 30 year old IBM bottom.Ulicesrmpel wrote: ↑09 Apr 2024, 12:02When was the speaker dropped? And has the case mold not been modified since that incident?

Re: My first Model M
Looks like a good Model M keyboard to me. Just remember with this model number you don't have any indicator lights. You could also visit ClickyKeyboards.com and compare prices and models. The boards he sales are bolt modded and gone through also. I enjoy all my Model M's and my daily driver here at ...

Re: Classic Unicomp Speaker Hole?
Follow up on this strange speaker hole in my Unicomp keyboard. Finally opened it up. Defiantly appears to be a new old stock part (1399053). Apparently the bottom of a Model M Terminal Keyboard. Labeled IBM inside and feels like PVC. Has a different feel than the top of the keyboard. Here are some p...

Re: Has the Mini-M replaced the need for an SSK?
I own two Mini-M keyboards and an NOS SSK and don't use either one of them very much. Haha. I'm just a numpad user. While I do like owning both I will always use the Mini-M normally to keep the mileage off the old keyboards. SSK's on ebay right now are very expensive.

I ordered another one this morning and few hours later they gave me shipping confirmation. They must have a few already made and ready to go.
Don't know what I need another one for but oh well. Went with all gray keys on this one.

Unicomp Mini M is available again.
I was visiting Unicomp's website today and the Mini M is available again for those that have been waiting for it. "PRODUCT UPDATE! It's back! New and revitalized! After several months of being without a controller, we now have a significant inventory of Mini M piece parts and we are ready to fulfill...

Re: Small queries re. Unicomp 122's Single Usage Code controller
My Mini M isn't new. I got it when it was released a few years ago. Or do you think they installed a new controller? Yes, it's possible, that's why I'd like to see the picture. It doesn't matter that the mechanics of the keyboard is older. You're the freshest Mini M repair recipient I know of, and ...

Re: Small queries re. Unicomp 122's Single Usage Code controller
Interesting. I just took delivery of a New Model M last week. It took them 3 months to get me one. Also just got back my Mini Model M I sent to them to flash or repair the disconnect problem it would suffer from. Now I have a small label on my back sticker that it was serviced by Unicomp with a dat...

UK IBM Model M, 51G8572
For anyone that might be interested. I opened up one of my IBM 51G8572 from the UK and figured I would take some pictures and document it here. Surprised not one rivet was missing on the back plate. This keyboard has a lot of life left in it before it will need a bolt mod. It has the speaker inside ...

Re: Small queries re. Unicomp 122's Single Usage Code controller
Unicomp very recently started shipping Raspberry Pi Pico based controllers with their New Model Ms. Not sure what they ship with their PC122 keyboards, but if they ship the same, then it doesn't matter what firmware it comes with cause now we have open source VIAL-QMK: https://www.reddit.com/r/mode...

Re: Classic Unicomp Speaker Hole?
Tha does seem to be an entirely different bottom from the standard. The longer feet have already been mentioned, but it also has the cable coming out of the original left center (when viewed from typing position) like the original SDL cable instead of the top right like the later fixed cable Lexmar...

Re: Classic Unicomp Speaker Hole?
I would bet good money that Unicomp found a couple of these old-style cases lying around the warehouse and wanted to use them up. There would be no good reason for them to reintroduce the cable routing slots which only work with the thin terminal cables and not USB or PS/2, unless, as suggested ear...

Re: Classic Unicomp Speaker Hole?
When did the speaker get dropped? And has the case mold really not been tweaked since then? I have handled Unicomp and Lexmark Model M cases with the speaker hole filled in. I was surprised to see it in this case. But maybe this version never had it filled. I know they have offered many version ove...

Took delivery of a new 104 Classic Unicomp Model M keyboard and I noticed the speaker hole has returned. Or has it always been there on the Unicomp model? I guess it's a good place to be if nobody at work can tell you what keyboard you can or can't use. I choose a New Model M Unicomp with gray keys seeing my keyboard gets a little dirty with my line of work. Its perfect for what I need it to do.

My first screw mod. Model M 122
Well I decided to go ahead and try a screw mod myself. Figured I would try it on my keyboard in the worst condition. A IBM Model M 122 keyboard that only had about 10 percent of the plastic rivets remaining. It was basically unusable in its condition and pretty dirty. I recently bought it from a com...

Thanks for digging those up. I saw around 1995 on some Lexmark keyboards the holes were also filled back in. Probably around the time they filled the speaker also. This is fun.
