Can't make out the make/model of the PC and keyboard. Still, interesting to see a president taking a hands-on approach to technology.
Here's a bigger version.

Re: Space bar stab clip broken off Model M barrel plate
Unicomp has the button plates - they call them "frames" - in original 101-key
Those Unicomp "frames" require some modding with a Dremel or similar tool to cut off the drainage channels at the bottom? I have a Dremel and some skill, but I've never had the courage to take it to one of those barrel ...

Re: Space bar stab clip broken off Model M barrel plate
Thank you for getting back to me. I actually do have some washers around with that exact size. However, in a box, I found an unharmed barrel plate from some kind of 1980s terminal Model M. After some drilling and cleaning, it's now sitting in the keyboard in question.

Hello dcopellino and fohat, I followed the link and also, separately, Googled "space bar washer repair mod Model M keyboard" and the like. Am coming up with nothing. Could you please refer me to a resource that explains how the mod works? Thank you!

Space bar stab clip broken off Model M barrel plate
So... the hook thing (clip?) slash small-piece-of-plastic that holds one side of the space bar stabilizing wire on my Model M broke off. No idea how it happened. Worse, it went flying across the room and I can't find it. Now the space bar only works if I press it in the middle. How can I fix this ...

Re: Dating a Model F/XT with no date code?
Thanks for the reply! I have a few other F/XTs. Each has either a date code on the large QA label on the backplate, or a date stamp on one of the case halves (or, sometimes, both). This one, however, doesn't have any of the above. It's a total mystery. (There is a stamp on the inner top case, but it ...

Dating a Model F/XT with no date code?
This was an eBay purchase . I was intrigued by the multiple QA labels. However, nowhere on this keyboard is there a date code. I'm wondering if it's possible to date this to a particular year... based on the information that is there on some of the internal labels and stamps?

A second life for a 1394012 Model M
So I don't post much on the socials (was banned from r/modelm, which put a big damper in my enthusiasm), but today I embarked upon a project to restore the exact same 1988 IBM 1394012 ASCII Display Station Model M keyboard that ElecPlus posted here seven years ago. Nah I'm probably as old as you and custom/specialized keyboards were always cool. In the same way that Zoo York watches and apparel have been cool since the early '90s. You can be "hip" and also be into nice stuff like mechanical watches and mechanical keyboards. Interscope has just found a revenue ...

I bought a "new" desk (beautiful hardwood, 300 lbs/136 kg, took 3 guys to move it, me included... and was $10 at Goodwill!) specifically because it doesn't have a keyboard tray, and my old desk did. Keyboard trays are awful. But I can envision some kind of metal arm that swings in and out that could ...

So I'm just wondering if a beam spring keyboard... let's say the 5251 for example... will work with a Soarer's converter type of device? Original cable to converter to modern PC? Or would I need to put in a new controller? Thanks for your info.

AndyJ... no, it's not a grounding issue, but thanks for the suggestion. But yeah, I totally agree that these keyboards (as far as Model Fs go, I've only tried the vintage AT and XT) are very sensitive to grounding. Any time that wasn't "right" on one of the boards, it would spit out total gibberish ...

Production error. Was probably damaged or nonfunctional and they sent it back through the production line. I have a 1987 Model M 1390131 with 2 back stickers one day apart, with large initials "JB" scribbled over both.
