You seem to have more than enough interest in these sets, so "new or nothing" works for me.

Double shots are nice. Maybe even nicer than dye-sub keys.
But I agree with webwit - switch to IBM. And sell your Cherry dye-subs. ;)

Nice Toshiba MSX machine! It looks brand new. MSX was actually a pretty neat system. I used to have a Spectravideo, as well as a Goldstar and a Sony. Never really used them much though. Also had a ZX81 and a ZX Spectrum 48, an Acorn Electron, a Commodore 128, followed by both an Amiga 500 and an Ata...

@Daedalus: I like your suggestion to fit buckling springs on the underside and make some sort of numpad. Not that I will try as it would mean destroying much of the keycap holder. Also, those keys are firmly locked into place and are actually pretty difficult to remove. See detail below: http://img8...

@ Pylon: Yes, I love my Wheelwriter keys. Still looking for some other white keys though.

@ webwit & runeazn: enjoy your Koninginnedag! Good memories, although I haven't been able to celebrate it since 2002. It's just not the same when you're in another country.

Very nice! That box of yours looks like it came straight from the store. I'm still trying to figure out how old my keys are. The tape that once was on the box destroyed much of the label. It's shows *1351703* underneath a label with a different number. Not sure which one is the real part number. htt...

Sometimes ebay can be your friend. I haven't had the time yet, but I may just put a few on my daily driver to see what it looks like. Expect some more pictures in the next day or so.

IBM Model M 'Clear' Keycaps with Precut Legends

Just got these in today. In the original box, although I'm really not sure how old these are. Included are 4 x 15 keys with clear keycaps, precut legends, and an IBM keypuller. Quite nice. I have many keyboards, including a Steelseries 6GV2 and while I like the MX blacks, I hate the tiny backspace. L shaped return I can live with, although I'm no fan of it either. The non-ANSI layout and it's small backspace are the main reasons it's stored somewhere in it's box.

Yeah, TU Delft certainly never prepared me for anything like this. Perhaps a degree in 'Keyswitch Engineering' would have been more helpful. Of course that still wouldn't help me much here in Canada - "Are you a Mechanical or Civil engineer?", "Both. I'm a very civil mechanical keyswitch engineer".

No, remove the rubber cap and the switch won't work. The switch itself has no spring, so the white stem is down/activated once you pull the cap off. Remove the rubber from the cap and the key is always pressed. The rubber basically acts as the 'spring' that lifts the stem. It's all very strange and ...

I also remember seeing an older HP or Compaq with rubber caps under the keys. But otherwise that was a fairly regular rubber dome board. Devlin seems to use this as one of their standard case designs. The similar KMX-144 (with Cherry MX) on GH here: http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:1229...
